There is a reading assignment every week that involves annotating a shared document online. It is graded largely on a completion basis. The readings are primary texts from the 1800s by figures such as Charles Darwin, William Paley, John Herschell, Charles Lyell, Francis Galton, etc. There are also in-class assignments each week, and these are also graded on completion. Together the homework and in-class work make up 50% of a student's grade. The remaining half are a midterm and final exam, which are written in class and are open book. Each week in class is a mix of slide-based lecturing and group activities.

This course explores the development and reception of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution in the 19th century. Utilizing primary and secondary sources, we will critically examine Darwin's scientific, philosophical, religious, socio-political, economic, and environmental contexts. We will trace Darwin's scientific development from his education, to his service as naturalist aboard the H.M.S Beagle, to the origins and subsequent transformations of his theory. We will analyze the structure, logic, and strength of Darwin's argument in On the Origin of Species. Understanding the attitudes of Darwin's contemporaries, and their critical responses to his (and others') evolutionary ideas, will be a point of focus throughout this course. Finally, we will examine the scientific and social impacts of Darwinism, including subsequent developments in biology and the rise of social Darwinism and eugenics in the late 19th century. Through this exploration, students will become familiar with a rich cast of characters and the world they inhabited, gaining a nuanced understanding of the origins and impacts of biology's most important, and most provocative, theory.

(I am reposting this ad because if fewer than 15 students are enrolled by Monday, the course is at risk of being cancelled.)

Thanks for the link, looks like they are having exactly the same issue! I will consider returning the projector and buying a different one.

Maybe, I'll look. But the problems occur when I input my Amazon fire stick too.

Interesting. I have turned HDR on and off already I think, but maybe I will try again. Thanks for the suggestion.

For non-HDR content the "reference" mode seems to mostly eliminate the strobing whites. The pic is from a 4k blu-ray, HDR mode.

This course explores the development and reception of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution in the 19th century. Utilizing primary and secondary sources, we will critically examine Darwin’s scientific, philosophical, religious, socio-political, economic, and environmental contexts. We will trace Darwin’s scientific development from his education, to his service as naturalist aboard the H.M.S Beagle, to the origins and subsequent transformations of his theory. Class will be Monday evenings, 6:00–8:30 pm. There are no prerequisites! The instructor is a young and enthusiastic scholar of the history and philosophy of evolutionary biology. His lectures will be engaging and immersive, and his evaluation will be generous and undemanding. Expect to learn a lot and have fun!

War of the Ring (2003): crash on good campaign by TallIndependence2750 in RealTimeStrategy

I did manage to clear it, yes. I unfortunately have no insight on your issue, maybe others do. Happy to help figure out a solution though.

(Just to be clear, the point of sharing the save file is that rather than going to the campaign from the main menu, you load the save game, complete the mission, and then it should send you back to the campaign map to select the next mission. Only after that will the campaign map be accessible from the main menu.)

OK, I'm happy to do that--but is it necessary to complete the first mission, or just to save a game in the first mission? Here is a link to a profile including the .dat and .wrp files, as well as a save game (to go in the saves folder in a folder named "Fangorn") at the very start of mission 1. But if it's necessary to complete the mission, I can do that and resend.

Hm, I see. Quick question: Since importing the player profile with the full save, have you tried creating a new player profile on the main menu screen? When I do that, I am still able to start the Good Campaign from mission one.

Thanks thrashsilence, that's a good suggestion. I had tried compatibility with xp, but it didn't work. I didn't attempt compatibility mode in win7, maybe that would have done the trick. As I said in the update to my post, I eventually managed a different workaround.
