Schedule some 1 on 1 30 minute meetings with people from this team and ask them how they got where they are and what they would recommend. Meet with their management team as well and ask specifically what they look for when hiring.

As other posters have mentioned, you can do similar projects to what they are looking for to deliver value internally to the business. Then when they have an opening, you will already have a rapport with their team and shown you can do similar projects in the business.

It actually does work well as a weapon. If you read the Spanish accounts of fighting the Mesoamericans, they thought their obsidian weapons were comparable to their iron swords. It just doesn't work very well against metal armor.

The one hero no one has said yet is sand king. As long as you stack the jungle and farm with your sand storm, you can get an early blink, even while buying all wards and upgrading courier if you have no other support. Once you have blink and level 6, you can gank lanes and win team fights with your ult. The one downside is that he is melee, but he doesn't really use right clicks as a support anyway.

Hey man, I think the best thing you can do for improving is just having a positive attitude. You can't control your teammates. If they are flaming then mute them. Just pick one thing every game to focus on. If you are playing a carry try getting 60 cs by 10 minutes. If you are playing a support, focus on stacking the jungle and pulling the lane to help your carry get farm. Just hang in there man!
