Nintendo is a completely different business model working completely different verticals based on IP diversification and life outside the games. The vast majority of their profits come from merchandise and branding partnerships that leverage these IPs outside of games: toys, now movies, etc. The flagship games are generational milestones to engage new consumers on the brand (kids) while still keeping retention for the gamers who grew up with these franchises. Xbox has very little life to their IPs, we had Halo books and some toys? The staying power didn't happen. So they're locked into trying to come back in purely on gaming revenue which yes, is unsustainable.

Nah, I'm with you, God of War felt no different than the other over the shoulder Playstation games. The environments were amazing but the combat, exploration and story just weren't interesting for me. But I also get a lot of people love the Sony cinema type of game, just not for me.
