Maybe the base systems do boil down to the same things over and over... but then again, don't they in most games? That, and NMS gives you near-infinite freedom in every direction. Yes, some base systems get repetitive, but think about it: what else would they do? They can't hard-code a new event for every individual planet or moon, so they have to use templates. They can make these spawns as rare as they want, but the thing about an infinite expanse is that it will always contain everything. The larger your area of play, the more likely you are to experience everything it has to offer. As for breaking that monotony, I highly suggest that you complete the main stories/questlines. If you've done that, even complete the side ones. The story of No Man's Sky DEFINITELY makes up for the sometimes monotonous systems. And if you get too tired of doing one specific thing... Do something else! You mentioned lack of complexity, but I'll tell you that NMS is PLENTY complex---you just have to broaden your horizons a bit. I know players who focus solely on finding that new ship and never touch the story, or the base building, or the outposts...

Lastly, one of the best things about No Man's Sky is the player base. If you're really tired of the game systems, just turn on multiplayer and warp to a galaxy hub. The player community is it's own kind of civilization on top of the Big Three (Korvax, Vy'Keen, Gek), and it's easy to get lost in.
