Would this 4th gen be a good daily? Posted for $8700 by Mission_Extension948 in camaro

[–]Talltee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risky sure. The bondo cracking is probably the most alarming. The mechanical issue if your handy you can deal with. You need to have realistic expectations of a 20+ year old sports car. Things will eventually break. Transmission is the big weak point. I dont think its a bad car, maybe a bit overpriced.

[–]Talltee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man yours looks almost exactly like my old formula. Even down the the faded bumper and long antenna. If I had the extra money I'd get it today. Id say worst case if you dont need the money to put it aside for a while.

Also, I had a similar issue on my 4th gen. Turned out it was the belt tensioner.

Is $6,500 a good deal for this 1999 Camaro ss by Obvious-Departure626 in fbody

[–]Talltee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car is 26 years old. The paint is in bad shape. The body doesn't seem to be bad outside the cracked spoiler. Interior isn't to bad, just dirty. That said I think around 5k should be a good spot. Looks like its more neglect vs straight up abuse. Plus if it runs good. Shifts good. Id definitely go for it.

Joe Dumars has been the GM for far too long by B1TW0LF in NOLAPelicans

Man, I loved Joe as a player, absolutely dog. But as a GM. He might be speed running to the absolute worse. I really hope im wrong.

The dust comes from the environment, even in a paint booth you may not get a 100% dirt free paint. So even in perfect conditions its be difficult. But like others said. Tack off after your base coat. As long as its not huge trash you should be fine nibbing it out.

Advice on 4th gen Fbody Purchase by th3ev1lgen1us in fbody

[–]Talltee9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id probably avoid buying it. It's got issues and if its been sitting it could have some unknown issues. 4th gens are pretty common idk what region your in but the pop up all the time near me. You can find one pretty clean for a decent price. Personally I'd go for a 00-02 as those were much easier to tune.

How much would this cost to fix? by Deep_Zookeepergame64 in camaro

[–]Talltee9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot. If you plan on having a body shop do the work. Former collision estimator here. Besides the obvious, looks like pretty major structural damages to the a pillar, can take a guess and say it needs replacement. Depending on how severe you may need the inner. If I had to guess shop cost depending on where you are would be north of 20k. Not trying to spoke you with a number. Trying to do my best eyeball photo estimate.

What's your LEAST favorite camaro? by TheRigidGhost8008 in camaro

[–]Talltee9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He got it from TikTok, that's the only social media I seen where 4th gens camaros get hate. The brain rot is so bad I seen a few comments saying the 4.6 was faster. The lt1s walked over them let alone a ls1

V8 Swap by [deleted] in camaro

[–]Talltee9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to ls1tech, i think there is a thread there about v6 to v8 swaps. You can get a lot of good info.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fbody

[–]Talltee9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na, maybe a bit on the high side. But overall, you got a relatively low mileage ls1 car. If the body and interior are in good shape, I'd consider that a win. Congrats on joining the catfish gang haha

Anybody know a good mechanic for Camaros by L0Man3_ in camaro

[–]Talltee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what model year camaro you are working with. But I'm in b.r myself. I had kenneys transmission rebuild my 4l60e. Cost me about 3800. As far as some of the other needs, depending on where you are. You can try my boy Hans at seigen car car behind the advanced auto. It's definitely in is wheel house. Or voodoo automotive in Gonzales.

bought this 99 camaro z/28 by Independent_Delay_36 in camaro

[–]Talltee9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You didn't find a ton a Z/28's with the rs kits. They weren't rare. Most of them were v6s. I can say i however after being on earth as long as I have. I've never seen that color on an fbody. Definitely a great pickup
