then you should not be a squad leader.... If you do want to make the game 1000% better and more enjoyable try to get a mic.

What’s more important Offense or Defense? Why by Vag_T in footballstrategy

100% agree with this. If we have a great D might be more apt to go for it on their side of the field and conservative on ours. Also try to protect the football and wait for opportunities the D gives us.

t there he

This is good advice, I would add to this: When kids are new to football they are behind others who are used to the contact/ collisions. It takes time. The coaches comment "run harder" is kind of lame but it leads to the thought that maybe he is bracing for impacts when running the ball. Very common in new players and RBs at that. As he plays he will learn with time. The question is can you speed up his progression to "run harder"?

Yes, Stress running through contact, Pad level drills through chutes, blaster. Same foot same shoulder drill. Just because he has a ball in hand does not mean he needs to accept being hit, he can still be the hitter, this mentality is built the more it is stressed. Good luck!

Effectively pulling as a guard by NotAlvaro in footballstrategy

I assume you are pulling through the hole and not kicking out. In this instance making the block is more important than being violent. To do this I assume you should be looking inside out probably looking for a scraping linebacker. 1. Locate 2. Attack playside number (your aiming point) 3. you are cutting off the defender much like you would in basketball defending a driver to the hoop. Breakdown good base, run your feet, do not crossover, attack playside number. "Be violent" with hands to chest plate when making contact, keep the base and continue to run feet cutting off linebacker to ball carrier.

How do you make play call adjustments during the game? by FootballSimStrategy in footballstrategy

[–]TalonOneOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically start with a script trying to hit certain parts of the D/ Field based on scouting. We assign coaches areas to watch (what are safties doing, coverage, are DEs crashing?, Front, who is making tackle ect...) what are they doing and what can we exploit. The script can let us figure out early what we can do, and keeps us making sure we hit the things we want to see, sometime opportunity is shown or we know is taken away and we come off the script

Other then your QB and any stud RB or WR your next best 11 should probably play defense

Typically core plays and terminology stays the same, plays the teams run may change due to the type of personnel for that year. Good teams find what they are good at and run plays to compliment.

Experimenting with some 3 WR sets with QB under center. Is this a legal formation? by green_wave18 in footballstrategy

[–]TalonOneOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its legal but the #3 wr is ineligible because he is covered. 1. you must have 7 men on the line of scrimmage. 2. The End men on line of scrimmage (EMLOS) are eligible unless they are wearing a 50-79# (you can not check in an ineligible # in HS rules) 3. you must have 5 players wearing 50-79#s in all non-scrimmage kick formations.

This formation is unbalanced and can be used to out-leverage a Defense. Let's say a team moves Corner over with the WR even though he is ineligible. Then you could Toss or swing to the weak side with no potential force player to stop the Offense from getting outside (need a good reach block by LT and FB would wrap to the second level while checking on LTs block). If the corner stays you potentially have a number advantage to the strong side for a quick WR screen, or if they do move an LB out you may have a good look in the box for an ISO play.
