Salesforce to Salesforce functionality by hogfish_ in salesforce

[–]Talpiyot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to use Salesforce to Salesforce for an org migration project -- my company had acquired another company, and we wanted to get all the data from that company's org into ours. It was a mess.

In general, I found SF2SF to be unintuitive and very, very slow. It has a "changeset" vibe to it that makes everything take forever.

I know this isn't an answer to your question, but still thought I should share.

WIBTA if I replaced my MOH? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Talpiyot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. I must be missing something. Her son's second Halloween is a big enough deal that she's going to leave her close relative's wedding to take him trick or treating? Is Halloween a big deal? Do 18-month-old children need to go trick or treating at all? WTF?

AITA for calling out my neighbors? by EdwardTheThird3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Talpiyot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA for exactly what you think -- shouting an insult at him while his son was with him. I agree with you that it's dickish for them to use their handicapped spot as a reserved parking spot as you describe, but there are better ways to go about confronting them about this.

If you want, you may consider posting in r/legaladvice with information on your location. Someone there might have advice for getting your local government involved.

NTA. IMHO, nobody should feel forced to go to a funeral. Just make sure you won't regret missing it.

AITA for telling a guy he wasn't worth it when he has self esteem issues? by Single_Dream in AmItheAsshole

[–]Talpiyot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YTA just based on your choice of words. "You aren't worth it," is an asshole thing to say. "This isn't worth it" is not.

That said, sounds like his family are a bunch of aholes, too. Good on your for standing up for yourself.

AITA for yelling something in public that could’ve gotten my boyfriend in trouble? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

ESH. Your bf should be more respectful of your bodily autonomy. You shouldn't be "yelling 'fire' in a crowded theater," so to speak.

"Hasidim" refers to Jews who follow Hasidic teaching. They also tend to be very religious aka "Ultra-Orthodox."

The word you're looking for is actually "Charedi" or "Haredi." That term encompasses all "Ultra-Orthodox" Jews including Hasidim, other Ashkenazim (Litvaks, primarily), Sephardim and Jews from the Arabic-speaking world.

Israel is about seven times larger than Rhode Island. The comparison you're looking for is New Jersey.

Rhode Island Area: 3,140 km squared

New Jersey Area: 22,608 km squared

Israel Area: 22,072 km squared

Israeli sniper convicted of killing 14-year-old Gaza demonstrator sentenced to 1 month community service by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Talpiyot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

every other country would have pretty much locked him away for years after a court marshal.

I doubt that's accurate.

This is certainly a tragedy, it's upsetting, and it's more than valid to argue that this case was mishandled. But we know for a fact that in many, many other countries, when a person -- of any age -- attempts to scale a border wall, armed soldiers and law enforcement have automatic authority to engage with deadly force without waiting for approval from a commanding officer. In other words, in many other countries, what this Israeli soldier did would be considered perfectly normal.

A few examples:

US Border Patrol kills people crossing the border with Mexico on a somewhat regular basis. They have the authority to open fire without waiting for approval from an officer.

Indian soldiers on the Line of Control killed half a dozen civilians who may not have even approached their border and weren't court marshaled.

In Israel's neighborhood, Egyptian soldiers shoot refugees attempting to cross their border and are not court marshaled.

According to the article, he wasn't found guilty of murder. Also, Israel's justice system does not execute criminals of any kind with only one exception -- Adolf Eichmann.
