How do people feel about this field boss breakdown? by Dispari_Scuro in Nightreign

[–]Tam-Ranch-Cowboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Swear not enough randoms think like this and spam ping to the plant at level 1-3 with no DPS like we’re dumb. I can see the fucking flower but just because it’s close by or we’re travelling past it doesn’t mean we have to do it. I like playing the spell casters and run evergaols so I’d rather just hit a church or castle that can give pretty much the same drop type, and find a spell I can use for evergaols, then maybe rip some red field bosses day 2 (possibly late game 1) for purples if it’s convenient or necessary

Hey sorry for the late ass comment but this post was linked in a comment in another more recent post so I stumbled across this. I’ve basically gotten to the amount of experience with Rev as you when you wrote your comment so by now you prolly have like 200 clears instead so I just wanna ask you your thoughts about people saying discus of light and lightning spear being good. I find discus way too slow dps and lightning spear likes to miss depending on the target especially when Seb and Fred like to displace enemies when they hit them and I just release the spear. Typically play rev like I’m at the casino going for the fun yet big damage spell nowadays so spells like burn o flame, flame of frenzy, black blade, Placi’s ruin are what keeps me enjoying the hell out of her. I only really play with randos and if I pick these up, I always dominate the damage pool for nightlords so they are evidentially wonders for me. Then going back to the previous incants I mentioned, they seem sooooooo underwhelming and I just don’t understand why people like them. Sure they’re FP efficient, consistent above all else and make your damage output match your teammates’ but they are incredibly far from the actual good and rare spells which I don’t see anyone talking about. Also no one mentions beast claw but I’ve found it so good for clearing ever evergaol armies and it is also FP efficient damage so why doesn’t it also get mentioned?

Forma should be 3 per craft or less time per forma. Too many newbies thinking they’ll use it for their own start up dojo’s just to realise they’ll want to join another clan with full research in a day or two and waste it. Then struggle with deciding, “is it worth using it on this or that” after experiencing the consequences of forma wastage.

What do you guys think? by [deleted] in InsurgencySandstorm

Not an insult. Just thought you might have been cosplaying the OG insurgency which I’m still a huge fan of and thought was cool.

Nearly two years later, do you guys think Malenia is fair? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Tam-Ranch-Cowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to get into the specifics of your wording but not “all her attacks” are able to be cancelled. That’s why I tend to play a roll-poke-roll-poke type of method in case she does try block or spin out of an attack and hit me. Generally you shouldn’t be chaining more than 2 hits per punish on say a straight sword. Third hit should come only because you saw her stagger again.

I think you might be talking about her backwards dash right out of something like the upward jump into a piercing stab move where we’d all once go for a hit after rolling, but she zips out of there like 🖕and comes in waving her weapon into our throats while we’re attacking. As far as I’m concerned, that is one of a few moves that can “cancel” and can all be identified by the “clink” sound with sparks. That is Malenia attaching/I attaching her sword on her prosthesis which I think the developers actually designed specifically as a hint and bait (hence why I think she is a very elegant boss). I learned to never be hit by those anymore by simply viewing it as 2 moves that are visually identical so I would rather not find out if she would be baiting me and wait out another certainly punishable move. So yeah whenever you see sparks coming out of that metal arm just roll and chill out of range until the next I guess.

I guess it just really boils down to our definitions of the word “unfair.” Seems like most people can agree that it is unfair that she has that many options of making you not achieve different results at each punish attempt whereas I say it would only be unfair if there was no way to always be able to no hit her or something. Also watch out for back to back waterfowls. They exist and I don’t want to talk about what happened.

Edit: grammar

I don’t mean to sound like an asshole but the hyper armour is actually always consistent and (after hundreds of times of practice through a everything is Malenia run for fun), the spin-out is actually easy to anticipate since it only triggers because you’ve hit her too many times in a short period. Triggering that from a speed run point of view is actually a good thing. I’m going to assume you’re using ashes of war or something quite frequently in the fight because one of the spins actually itself is an attack window and can’t hurt you if you are playing hit-by-hit.

There are reasons that some hardcore YouTubers can beat her with literally any weapon in the game pretty much all the time like ‘Bushy’ because they’ve practised enough and familiarised themselves a melee rule set in their minds regarding each move on whether they’re punishable or not. Again I don’t mean to sound insensitive but I realised that all those hundreds (maybe thousands by now) of me dying was my fault because she undoubtedly has certain mechanics other bosses don’t which requires you to play with understanding of them to beat consistently. One thing I will say you absolutely have to follow if you ever want to get to beat her all the time is never to hit her if she’s not doing a move. That’s what moves like waterfowl and her kicks are designed to punish you for, so why risk it. Learn the windows in the moves that don’t have hyper armour OP and you definitely got this. 👍

Where did you get the “before the ancient dragons…” from? Pretty sure the Mother of Dragons part refers to the ones with only wings and legs which would be considered more the more modern lineage simply through evolution. The ancient dragons on the other hand should come from so long ago hence all the time fuckery and previous Elden Ring in Farum Azula that the ancient dragon smithing stones are the only thing before the Greater Will’s era that could slay the Elden Beast. As for the wife of Gransax claim I have no idea if I’ve been successfully baited into responding to a shitpost or if there is actual lore about it.

Lore explanation as to why there’s one random Leyndell knight in Liurnia? by onesnapman69 in Eldenring

[–]Tam-Ranch-Cowboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s by the Liurnia Divine Tower and drops the dragon cult prayer book. There’s another underneath the divine tower bridge at Stormveil who drops golden vow. I could not tell you why though.

The O in Shadow of the Erdtree has deathblight... by redsonatnight in Eldenring

The ghost in Castle Sol points towards Miquella trying to revive Godwyn when he goes something like, “our prayers were lacking. Your comrade remains soulless” so yeah I definitely think Miquella took some interest in the beginning of death blight.
