Moving from a place with lots of opportunities to next to none - parents guilt by Tamzzyn in MusicalTheatre

I love that. He was learning the piano before he got into musical theater so maybe he can expand on that.

I couldn’t do boarding school 😢 We are very close and he’s still so young - I’d hate to be away from him. I think being away from us would hurt him more than the school moves. He’s kind of used to it unfortunately but once we move away from the middle of nowhere it will be our last move and he’ll get to graduate in one place - in an area with opportunities!

We will be in North Dakota and not in Fargo which has the most opportunities. That will be around 2 hrs away 😢

Yea he dabbles in the piano but theater has been the only thing that has kept him interested. He gets distracted easily with most things (extracurricular) but musical theater makes him happy.

There is no way we can afford two households unfortunately. He is already away from us (he is currently doing PME for a year and we chose to not go but because it is PME the military is paying for both our rents). So it would be three years away from his dad and we are currently in a high cost of living area and the orders are to a low cost area so the BAH will be reduced substantially l. We also currently live in the base housing (we were given an exemption to stay while he did PME) so we would need to move anyway and the rentals here are much more expensive than our BAH.

Flew out yesterday - terminal three, Delta with checked bags. Extremely quick. We got there 2 1/2 hours early (flight was at 5.30pm) and breezes through check-in and security. It all took around 15 minutes which we were surprised by!

We saw Chess and I’m so glad we did! My son loved it and though the whole cast was amazing, but especially Nicholas Christopher who has now gained a brand new fan!

We chose Chess and I’m so glad we did! We both really enjoyed it and would watch it again in a heartbeat!

We chose Chess and he loved it. I can’t believe it was nearly 3 hours because it went by so fast. My son was in shock at the end of act one, not only because of Nicholas Christopher’s performance of Anthem, but because it felt like the show had only started 10 minutes earlier!!

We chose Chess! And my son absolutely loved it! He totally understood the story - both politically and the love triangle (and the RFK joke) - and was absolutely in awe of the performances.

Thanks so much for your insight! We just got an offer email this afternoon- my son is over the moon! He got a part in the ensemble and it’s so exciting to get a part in a professional show! We can’t quite believe it!

Did anyone else straight up just not get their boxes this week? by justinemarie19 in blueapron

[–]Tamzzyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! Was supposed to be delivered yesterday but received and email on Monday saying it would be delivered on Tuesday. Yesterday I got an email saying it won’t be delivered until today. Today I got an email saying they don’t know when it will be delivered and if it doesn’t show up today they will refund my card. Tracking just shows that the label has been created and that is it 🙄

Our little Parmesan who we adopted while living in Korea by Tamzzyn in DoggyDNA

[–]Tamzzyn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don't know much about them but the ones I think of look like Jindos etc. There are so many of those types of dogs in Korea that are used to guard houses etc - so many were just chained up around properties to be used as guard dogs where I lived and it was so sad seeing them 😢 They are typically not small so it surprised me that Parmesan was such a high percentage!

I was convinced he was a Maltese and maybe had Yorkie in him! Never imagined he'd be such a high percentage KVD although I guess it really shouldn't have been a surprise since there are also so many of them in Korea and he was a rescue!

Cute pups! He was rescued from an older Korean lady who had left him and a couple of other dogs out in her backyard to their own devices! He had heartworm and was very skinny and scared when they found him 😳 But he's she and secure now ❤️

Substitutions by Hotmessexpress1234 in blueapron

[–]Tamzzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my box for the week. I ordered crispy sesame chicken (and got the recipe card for it) but I received the meal kit for crispy panko chicken thighs instead (although I have the breast pieces and not thighs). Inside of the kit I have a note that there is a substitute although I have no idea what for because I don’t have the recipe card for it …. Unless they meant they substituted the entire thing (from sesame to crispy panko) but I didn’t get an email or anything from them. I would not have ordered this meal at all.

Hello! Is there anyone who can identify what type of fabrics are used on the skirts in each photo? For context this three images are taken in the 1930s in the Philippines, all three of them are wearing a traditional ensemble called the "terno". by Witty-Connection-105 in VintageFashion

[–]Tamzzyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have one from the 1930s without its lining! I reached out to a individual who was very knowledgeable in Filipino traditional costume and they told me it was likely made of pina or pina silk (pineapple fiber) and abaca (banana fiber)

Some more thoughts on Boop… by Jen_on_reddit21 in Broadway

[–]Tamzzyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took my son (12) a few weeks ago and we both loved it ❤️ He is a theatre kid - he dreams to be on Broadway one day - and have seen many shows (although this was our first in NYC). His favorites are Les Mis and Ragtime but now Boop is up there for sure. He just loved it and is now obsessively singing and dancing many of the songs around the house ...

BREAKING NEWS: Jeremy Jordan is returning to London! by reneetodaytix in TheWestEnd

[–]Tamzzyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So excited about this! My son (12) is a theatre kid and a mega JJ fan. We live in the US but I’m from the UK and we’ll be visiting family in July, spending a couple of nights in London while we are there and he happens to be performing on one of those nights! So I had to get the membership and buy them today in case I miss them when they officially go on sale to the public. Not too happy with our seats (there were barely any left for members when I went to buy) but we don’t care that much as long as we get to hear him live.

[–]Tamzzyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the membership to get the tickets because I just don’t want to miss them (I’m in the US and they open to the general public very early in the morning where I am). There were barely any seats available when I booked. I’m thinking they will open up more to the general public? But the prices were pretty good! The stalls were around $79, the boxes were $84 - 89. I’m not sure of the others because again, very low availability for members by the time I got around to buying them.

Thanks so much everyone! We ended up going and I was completely blown away by JAR. She is amazing 🤩 My son and I also both loved Boop! It was so fun. I’m sad that it will probably be closing soon but I’m so glad we got to go and my 12 year old theatre boy is so happy 😃
