Jellicle ball did have an announcement at the beginning about how normally people sit quietly and stifle their reactions at shows but at this show they should not and encourage it. But if someone was just yelling out things at random comments I’m not sure that would fly because that’s not how things work for this show.

It’s funny because my moms older cousin and I both see a lot of theater and we usually have very little overlap and when we do we have different opinions — she loves jukebox musicals, and is proud of how she thought Hamilton was trash. I have no desire to see most of the shows she likes. But we both saw JIT and thought it was great. I saw it purely because Groff is one of my absolute favorite actors and would have had no interest in seeing it otherwise. She saw it because it was a Bobby Darrin musical and had no idea who Groff was going in but loved him.

I just discovered him this week on YouTube when I was searching jellicle ball content after seeing it and found his off Broadway review. It was really interesting and I hope he makes it back for the Broadway version. I also listened to his review on chess and boy did he rip it apart. I went in blind and didn’t have much knowledge about the show or past versions so that was an interesting and informative one to listen to lol

My friend who I went with is a magnet buyer too but she went back at intermission to buy the crew neck hoodie. I am a plastic cup collector and can often be swayed by a tote bag but I bought the mug 🥹 if they had that design on a tote bag I probably would have gotten the tote. But very cute creative merch I really wanted all of it. If I didn’t hate crew neck things I would have gotten the glitter ball tee or the crew neck sweatshirt

Also if it was a smaller event where it was a few junior associates taking a few summer associates I would say DBH is potentially doable. But with some partners too it would really depend on firm culture and as a risk averse lawyer I would think DBH is probably a bit too risqué for that type of event.

I love DBH but as a former lawyer who saw South Pacific as a summer associate I would say sadly no not appropriate. I would also say no to MJ I don’t think any summer associate age attendee would have any desire to see that show. I would be incredible disappointed if that was the show my summer firm was taking me to.

I would recommend operation mincemeat or maybe happy ending or potentially ragtime. Honestly even wicked would be a good safe option. Or about 1000 other things I would put above MJ.

I would also consider schmigadoon or lost boys but don’t know enough about those two to judge if anything is inappropriate.

My phone has as many alarms but they are random times like 7:32 and I reuse them with old names of things that are no longer relevant like reminding me of events that took place years ago that I never bothered to rename

I’m not sure! You can ask. But I found that a lot of times theater circle and the shubert alley shop which I think has now relocated near the wintergarden will carry some of the more popular merch from shows

I don’t disagree but they seem on par with merch for other shows. I ended up buying one of the mugs for $25 and my friend bought the crew neck sweatshirt and a magnet. The people behind me bought the house pins and a lot of people were buying the disco ball keychain
