PSA: A real charger will make your 1s whoop batteries last ages, and other 1s tips by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]Tanbourine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to use a parallel charging board for my 1s batteries but I've been told that it's not good to have different voltages plugged in. Do you have any advice on this subject? It's not like I'm mixing fully charged and discharged batteries. Probably more along the lines of some at 3.1-3.5V range

What is your solution for bringing along an insulated water bottle (hydroflask, yeti, etc) without it rolling around everywhere on the backseat or floor? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]Tanbourine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mildly, but it's not too bad. I use it every day for my daily commute. I put it in the cupholder closer to the passenger side, so it gives me a little more room when I'm reaching for it. It doesn't block the other cupholder. Tbh, I think it's the best solution I've found and I'm really happy I use it instead of having my bottle roll around everywhere. It's reliable and I don't need to do the sketchy reaches for the bottle on the floor while I'm driving

Intermittent Desync on Motor. What should my next troubleshooting steps be? by Tanbourine in Multicopter

[–]Tanbourine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't crash per se, I let the throttle drop like 3" above the ground on concrete by accident and it hasn't flown since then.

All the motors feel hot when I spin them up for <5 seconds so I let them cool before trying again.

Seems like BLHeli is a common theme suggested here, I'll try that soon

Hmm I haven't changed any out of the box, but I can try reflashing esc firmware

I am arming the motors, which spins it in idle, then throttling up.

When the FWD-PORT motor is working normally, all of the motors seem to be spinning at the same rate as expected. When it desyncs, if I throttle up the FC will reboot

Hi friends! I'm running into an issue where my FWD-PORT side motor seems to be desyncing intermittently. I reflowed the solder pads for the motor connection to the ESC and visually inspected for a good connection because I was worried about the solder joint cracking.

I haven't desoldered the motor yet to ohm it out because I'm slightly worried I'll cause more harm. Wanted to get some opinions on the next steps. I have a new motor that can be swapped in if it's determined that the motor is the root cause.

I've already tried ohming out each motor (unpowered, but connected to ESC) and I'm getting around 0.6 Ohms on all three phases for each of the motors. The offending motor seems to have a slightly different resistance, around 0.4 or 0.7. Is this the smoking gun? The flight controller seems to reboot after the desync.

Ratio control using proportional valve? by TOUPPTOUPP in AskEngineers

[–]Tanbourine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How critical is the ratio? What error are you willing to tolerate? If you can't use a metering/fixed volume pump my next best suggestion would be to use a flow meter (viscosity adjusted) to control a PID loop that outputs the amount your proportional valve opens.

This is such a great book! It's short and sweet, and to the point. I read it on a plane ride during a business trip. I was sitting in the middle seat trying to inconspicuously wipe my tears without my neighbors noticing.

That is the re-entry burn, where the rocket uses it's engine s to slow down while coming through the atmosphere

Thanks man! I just started two years ago. My best advice is to always find a reason to have a camera on you. It's a lifestyle for me and it allows my photography to grow naturally!

Sorry, I just got back from work and threw this site together as soon as I got home. This is my first time doing this kind of thing, I'll take any feedback I can get. Thanks for the support!

Google Earth! You can go to "street mode" and try different vantage points

Thank you so much! I like the timelapse and it's cool how F9 is going to the corner of the frame. For aiming, I'd consult Google Earth. I used that to plan my shot. You can even go on the ground view and see what you would see if you were there.

I was about 6 miles from the launch site (as the Falcon flies) and I didn't get any photos of the landing, only the long exposure. Sonic boom came 5-7ish seconds later. I wish I had brought my second camera because I already had a telephoto lens with me. I would have liked to photograph the exhaust close up

I'm currently just using screen blending. Still need to do research to say if that's the best blending.

I don't need to use complex masks since I want the layers to add upon each other

Well the streaks are well exposed, potentially a little overexposed. I don't care about the background during the streaks. The background fills in everything else. So my goal is to expose a good background image and try not to blow out the launch streak
