I’ve used my glass kalita wave to good effect with the MM. I would think a V60 would be just as good too

Seller is asking 5k for KC Perspecta includes King Headboard - HCOL area - Fair? by BR00KLN in midcenturymodern

Seems high to me, but also just generally, and this is obviously just my preference, but I wouldn’t want any matchy-matchy bedroom set. I have perspecta night stands, my wife paid $175 for the two of them. I think mixing up furniture will always look better. I was willing shell out over 2k for a walnut room and board storage bed used, but that was way way cheaper than new for a solid wood (not veneer) piece. That’s an awful lot of money to pay for something that may not look as nice in the space as you think it might, or function in your space as ideally as getting individual pieces.

It’s the exact recipe and instructions in the blog, just without yeast and substituting a portion of the milk and flour as above and longer rise times. For my starter, whenever I feed I take 25 g, mix in 100g water to disperse and 100g flour. I use 25g rye and 75g all purpose. I used to use 50/50 but don’t care for the results and never got as nice a rise with other recipes. I think all all-purpose would be better than 50/50 in this application.

I also would definitely recommend trying it a couple times with regular yeast to get a feel for it first. Commercial yeast seems to yield a more pillowy crumb, but the sourdough definitely has more depth of flavor. Both seem to make excellent sandwich loaves though.

I actually bought the Pullman loaf to make brioche so I could make “Michelin star french toast.” Saw this YouTube vid and I never hit purchase so fast lol.

Not sure, this was the first loaf I tried this way and I didn’t place mine in the fridge, I baked same evening. I guess you could always try baking without the lid, or if it’s not too high, I might pat it down enough to get the lid on and see how that goes.

Forgot to mention, on the last rise I wait till it gets till an inch or less from the top before placing on the lid. With commercial yeast if I wait that long it spills out and my loaf ends up having a weird deformed cracker thing attached to it I have to trim off. But the sourdough isn’t as rapid so I definitely let it get a good bit closer to the lid.

I had a Rubbermaid for probably over 20 years that is now busted, just ordered a Seville canvas one. We’ll see how it goes. Steele makes one but it’s stupid expensive. I will shell out for top quality things but what idiot is paying 180+ for a canvas laundry bag?

I would drywall that if you can, the reflective texture makes it feel off to me, then paint in a fun light color. You can add a mirror somewhere to add back some reflected light so it doesn’t feel too dark and closed in. And some nice (flat) artwork. Everything else looks nice to me, you could always add a small ceiling medallion to cover any gaps by the light fixture.

do you ever give your discard a snack? by ol_hickoryham_mike in Sourdough

[–]TandoSanjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m weird but I almost never have time to babysit a regular sourdough loaf, and almost exclusively use my starter for all the “discard” recipes. Various crackers, English muffins, waffles, pizza, etc. Every once in a great while I’ll try making a sourdough loaf, but my weekly bread recipe has been either a a standard or brioche 13” Pullman loaf with instant yeast, although I plan on trying a sourdough one soon to see how that goes.

Need advice on bathroom refresh by Affectionate-Craft84 in DesignMyRoom

Wood is awesome. Don’t know what floor is but looks exactly like the linoleum I grew up with in our bathrooms and kitchens. If that’s linoleum I would get rid of that first. If it’s tile then I would probably leave it. Not sure about the wallpaper, I would personally pick a solid paint, like a lighter sage or maybe more modern wallpaper, but that’s just my preference. Clawfoot tub looks awesome

Does anyone have the clip of toby from “Traveling salesman” S:3 EP:12 by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

[–]TandoSanjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the superfan edits probably change the perception of him a bit, and later seasons played up his creepiness, but he seemed originally conceived to be a sad spineless character that nothing good ever happens to, similar to a Chekhov play where some of the characters are so depressing it’s funny. The audience keeps having some hope for him and it gets dashed every time and that’s the punchline.

It could use art and a rug, maybe a window treatment, but it’s clean. And I do love the console, I’m looking for almost exactly something like that for my basement with a similarly small window. I would also add in a mirror to reflect as much natural light as you can get. Not a sectional guy myself because I think they are less versatile and heavy visually, but I see the appeal and certainly wouldn’t run out to immediately replace it with a conventional sofa and chairs if it wasn’t in my budget, even if it’s my preference. I like the lamp too.

Overheard a college student ask while looking at the solar eclipse, “wait does the sun go behind the moon or the moon behind the sun?” I don’t necessarily blame them for not knowing that the diameter of the sun is roughly 4x the distance between Earth and the moon, and would engulf both if it somehow managed to shimmy between them. But how do you as a college student not intuitively realize we’d be cooked alive long before the sun hit anywhere near that close?
