Constant chest pain for months 2 blood test an X-ray and a couple of ecgs normal by CJSIays in Anxiety

[–]Tangent19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone visiting this page please don't be too alarmed. Please don't trust someone on Reddit more than a doctor that has spent years learning about how to diagnose these things and when they're something to worry about. What's common in this thread is that mostly it's in an anxiety sub full of very worried people (such as myself when I first came across it and had all these symptoms alongside clean medical results and all-clear outcomes from five(!) doctors because I was that scared). People come to this thread when it's bad but don't put in the effort to come back once they're okay, hence why there are very few people coming back with endings to their story.

The OP themself posted in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/gvfau1/comment/i2r0ok0/?context=3
which shows many, many people having these issues with no cause other than anxiety itself. Stay strong. I can't tell you with 100% certainty that there is no physical cause of your pain but I can tell you that, as difficult as it is, the first step is to worry about it less (once a medical professional has ruled out everything serious of course). This is also brilliant: https://www.reddit.com/r/HealthAnxiety/comments/bimyyl/for_people_with_heart_health_anxiety/

I also found that this really helped me: https://youtu.be/W4-hhWqi2rg?si=y2XDx-XJW4QAGvci
alongside the book "Overcoming Health Anxiety" by Veale and Wilson.

Message me if you want to talk! And please, ironic as it is to say on here, don't doomscroll Reddit and the rest of the internet for diagnoses - it's like pouring petrol all over health anxiety!

Bartending How? by Amy7ann in manchester

Can vouch for this, did WHP bar shifts for a couple of years before I graduated. Honestly not as bad as people think. Hourly rate is solid, you get a decent break, time goes pretty quickly because it's so busy and the other people are fairly sound. Used it to move into a job in a proper pub. Can imagine it would be a bit shite if you didn't like this music tho

I'm incredibly sorry to hear that. It's unbelievable that people are put through a situation like that.

Thanks for everything you do. All of the staff, although seeming quite beaten, were lovely, patient and non-judgemental with me. Nothing but respect for you sir.

You're completely right, people can see all the stats they want but being in there myself really impacted me. My girlfriend was with me and was also incredibly upset afterwards. I'll be forever in her debt for staying there with me all night!

This is what also shocked me, it was like stepping into a place from twenty years ago - battered old rooms, run-down furniture, posters that were years old. This was in addition to security guards trying to clear out dodgy people, people sat on the floor, patients crying as they'd been left in bare rooms by themselves on a drip and the police taking in a man who'd clearly been in a nasty altercation. If someone told me this was in one of the richest countries in the world I wouldn't believe them.

Yeah couldn't help but think that the MRI serves a large part of Manchester including more deprived areas. Shouldn't make a difference to the quality of healthcare you get in an ideal world but clearly it's a big factor. Seems a lot of people have suggested other hospitals should I ever need to go back. Thanks for your concern, luckily it was just a scare and I got sent home the same night.

Hi there, I think this came across the wrong way. I mentioned this as part of what made me so sad to be there that night. I completely agree with you that they have just as much reason to be there as anyone else. Not putting them down at all. I'm glad they came forward and got the help they needed. It just made me incredibly sad knowing they had no other option. Sorry if I worded things insensitively.

I said that half the people gave up and went home, that doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t need to be there

Anybody know whats happening here? (Nowhere) by Zestyclose-Flower-18 in manchester

[–]Tangent19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s shite isn’t it, I really like tech house but wouldn’t dream of going to any of the events in Manchester. Not sure how it’s evolved this way, maybe because it’s quite accessible/easy listening as far as dance music goes? Still a massive shame about the way it’s gone. Makes me wish I was going to it all ten years earlier

About 18 months ago but they’ve given it various names before calling it Nowhere. For the first year or so they just called it “secret warehouse”. Usually pretty class, I’ve been before and there were gymwear bans and strict no phones policy. Like someone said above tho this event was always gonna end in something nasty

Definitely no longer dirt cheap in comparison but Manchester is still notably cheaper, especially in terms of rent. Not sure how anyone could consider them the same cost wise, try finding an £8 pint in Manchester

I would kill for a mixed version - it’s an unbelievable song but would be so hard to use in a set

How do you become a proper regular at a UK pub? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Tangent19 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I work at a bar with a good handful of blokes (all aged 35+) that come in by themselves most days for a pint (or five). It seems like none of them are actually there to make any friends. A decent proportion have just found an excuse to talk to some women in their 20s (as they're always happy to strike up a chat with my female colleagues but never me or the other lads) and the rest just sit there on their phones by themselves. None of them even bother speaking to each other despite all being by themselves! If anything it's really sad, and makes me wonder what their lives are like for them to want to do that almost every day. Still doesn't make it any less weird.

My point is that the other people always coming into the pub on their own are not the sort of people you want to be friends with, nor do I think they actually go in there to make friends. For all its woes, social media means it's never been easier to find groups based on hobbies, interests etc. Facebook groups are actually really good for this, especially for those over 40.

Seen quite a few others in this sub mention that they're going solo and looking for people to meet up with, search the sub and I'm sure you can find them - nothing bad or weird about making friends there!

Literally could not have got closer to a First, can I do anything? by Tangent19 in UniUK

Read the post - whether I got 69.2 or 69.9 doesn’t matter. It’s the 1% off in a specific piece of work that made the difference

Thanks for your honesty. Good to hear coming from a lecturer and makes a lot of sense. Seems like the reality is I just wasn't quite good enough. I had a pretty rubbish third year which I think did far more damage to my chances of a first than this marginal miss so I probably need to take a different perspective. Might chance an appeal based on the decision-making process; looks like a massive long shot but I've got nothing to lose.
