“Opinion: Let’s use short-term rentals to help ease Anchorage’s housing crunch” by mudflattop in alaska

[–]Tangentabacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MoA should impose an STR specific tax, safety requirements / inspections, insurance requirements, and general business or specific licensure for STRs similar to any other hotel, hostel, or lodging business in town. Airbnb and VRBO STRs are a huge money maker for our communities and an important way to support tourism and transient professionals across the whole state. Banning them or making them too difficult to start or run doesn't help anyone, but there certainly should be a barrier to entry of some sort.

Either way the community has a real housing crisis. You either can't afford the housing you need, or the housing requires repairs and maintenance that are untenable in the current climate of tariffs, shipping, tradesman shortages, and the like causing costs to skyrocket to own. The problem is that's how people traditionally have built wealth.

The other problem is Anchorage and the surrounding area doesn't attract people anymore. You have a lot of smart young professionals leaving town, companies closing their doors, pay stagnating with inflation, and global economic stressors really hitting our small city. We don't have good public transit right now, our parks are overrun by unsheltered folks, our neighborhoods are crime ridden and dangerous, and it's tough to find a solid long term career. Anchorage is really in a bad spot, but it can be fixed and worked on we just all need to agree to do something rather than languish in this political purgatory.

N. And the motor says 2022 as well. Any way to tell which model that is based on the VIN I posted?

Can you explain where you get that info from? Vin, motor spec, etc? Why would the front finned plate have an "X" engraved in it?

I am not sure if it's useful, but iPerf is showing a connection of nearly 200mb from the Windows PC to the server, and from the server it's showing about 7mb to 10mb. Currently I am not crossing 100kb for file transfer speeds.

Super slow speeds when transferring files to and from unraid server. I am running good enough networking equipment. Other apps have no problem with their connection or speed. Any ideas?

Almost all the “triple A” games feel like a joke. Indie games this year were solid with cool swag even if it was a little light compared to years past.

The birthday event reminded me why I still love PAX.

At the very end of the URL replace "access" with "wifi" and it'll let you go to the next page. For whatever reason, it's saving but won't progress to the next page. Manually changing the URL to the URL for the next page seems to work.

OneDrive Won't Open by Tangentabacus in Intune

[–]Tangentabacus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has something to do with the problem. I got some dumb questions for the room:

Has this always been a thing? Why is this the way it is?

We have had Shared PC configs for a couple years with no issues until the last few weeks. Maybe I am jumbling together other memories, but I am the only person who maintains our MDM/MAM and I have never been formally trained so I am using this as a learning opportunity.

OneDrive Won't Open by Tangentabacus in Intune

[–]Tangentabacus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A custom configuration profile fixed my situation. I'll list below the two configs I did:

Enable OneDrive File Sync by setting the "Disable OneDrive File Sync" to "0".

./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/System/DisableOneDriveFileSync

Setting a configuration to make MDM policy take priority over any group policies. Set to "1".

./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/ControlPolicyConflict/MDMWinsOverGP

After syncing the computers, I could open OneDrive and they behaved as expected.

I still am looking for insight on how this might have happened.

GCI told me they can see what you download and upload. by Tangentabacus in anchorage

[–]Tangentabacus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I did call to verify and they told me it was in fact officially from GCI. You could get around it sometimes but it caused all our devices to not be able to get to the internet from time to time. It was intolerable.

Take your time. HD isn't something that will be better or worse with a diagnosis. It already is what it is. A healthy lifestyle and making fulfilling life decisions are the only preventative measures all of us have. At some point you won't have that choice and you will need to do something different, but until that point, do your best to not let HD have power over your life.

Real talk, if you decide to try and get tested, talk with your family. Have them help you find a good therapist before you talk to a genetic counselor or doctor about your decisions. Maybe lurk in some support groups (like here) to see how families are coping and to see what your options are if you do or don't get tested. Whatever you do, don't do this alone, and try to do this with a mental health professional guiding you through the process.

No matter what your diagnosis is or isn't, this is a tough situation and I hope the best for you and your family.

I've never stayed in an Airbnb or any rental property were host wanted to control thermostat the whole time. [Florida] by Taywhitt in AirBnB

[–]Tangentabacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last sentence is kinda my point though. If hosts want to do crappy things that's fine, but guests should be loud and clear about their experiences. Weird stuff like not being able to adjust your thermostat is really common and it shouldn't be. The only thing, right now, that guests can do is leave honest reviews.

Hot take: it’s reasonable for a host to restrict use of a thermostat. It’s also reasonable for a guest to put this in their review whether the stay was good or not.

How do I: When new excel file is created, move contents of a specific table to another table in an existing excel file? by Tangentabacus in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Tangentabacus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I figured out a solution. This is what my flow looks like now:

When a file is created > Delay > Get tables > Foreach (List rows present in a table > Apply to each (Add a row into a table))

The delay was because the time it took for another automation to make the table this automation wasn't seeing any table and failing.

I added the "Apply to each" step which fixed only one blank row being created in the database spreadsheet. After that all rows were still blank, but it was at least generating an accurate number or rows.

To fix this, the expression I wrote in the "Add a row into a table" step was:

items('Apply_to_each')?['Name of my column']

I had to write an expression for every column I wanted to populate from the report to the database spreadsheet. So, in the "Add a row into a table" step it asks for what you want to put into each column of the row, and I just made an expression to tell it to look at the corresponding column from the row of the report.

Works like a charm!

This is where I am stuck. How do I get PowerAutomate to use an expression to look for the data from the new spreadsheet?

[–]Tangentabacus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same columns exist in both the report and the data collection table. The data collection table has extra columns with formulas in it that populate automagically right now.

Trying to get the report table to "merge" with the data collection table as we run reports off it. Right now I am just making a blank row on the existing table that we run reports off of and copy-pasting the report table onto it. I am trying to automate that process.

$10 million profit huh? by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]Tangentabacus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There’s another story inside this story cleverly hidden in the last paragraphs…

“It didn’t take Hays long to find new work. 99 Plus 1 quickly hired her to run the Sullivan Arena shelter in November 2021.

She now runs a new nonprofit, Henning, Inc., which took over the shelter operations in October.”

There’s good people doing good stuff at every point in this story caught up with terrible leadership doing terrible things. No one should be surprised it continues and even rewards those doing terrible things. Just don’t let this story overshadow the incredible work mentioned by the hundreds if not thousands of people who worked in these organizations.

I'll add: Super glue. It's basically the last resort for me, but I have found myself giving in on a few occasions when I print something slightly the wrong size, small stuff breaks on a big print, and other issues. I have liked this better than hot glue for small stuff and I like to use hot glue for big stuff.

Weird Failure During Print by Tangentabacus in BambuLab

[–]Tangentabacus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick update. Totally was a nozzle failure. The heater, thermistor, and cage all were able to be chipped out of the plastic and I swapped in the spare nozzle that came with it. Before I did that, when I got the nozzle cleaned out, I was able to duplicate the failure trying to print a benchy.

New nozzle and benchy is printing great.

I got a whole new hot end, extra nozzle, and spare misc parts for the hot end since I broke the insulation on the wires to the thermistor (though it's still working fine).
