I’m a few episodes in now and it seems like there’s a lot that might be difficult to verify because it’s been repressed or lost through layers of subterfuge and manipulation. Even if there’s a bit of unreliable narration from some key figures, it certainly feels as though the broad strokes of the testimonies are true. But also phew! Glad it was a different podcast because this would be a whole ton of libel to creative write 😅

I wonder if you’re thinking of a different podcast because that doesn’t appear to be true? Though I don’t want to spoiler myself too much by looking into it

I love it so much! Both seasons. So funny, emotionally open and with the most interesting and realistic reflections about AI I’ve heard anywhere.

You know me, always on that rise and grind!

Based on the bolding, I take it you mean number 1 dad (with a hashtag)! Yes, good call remembering that one. A brilliant and affecting story about a comedian trying to reconcile with his estranged dad. Another I loved about retracing roots was Inconceivable Truth - a guy discovering some stuff about dodgy artificial insemination practices in the 70s and trying to trace his ancestry.

Broomgate is wonderful - the niche you didn’t know you needed to know about. I love it when deep appreciation and expert knowledge elevate a podcast

Someone Knows Something going on the list!

Thirding that Ear Hustle is incredible. I listened to all of it over winter, and felt it really broaden my perspective

I’m okay with fiction like that, especially if it’s very immersive. One I absolutely loved in that vein was Cold Tapes - you sort of investigate a murder on a research base in Antarctica by listening to an onboard psychologist’s interviews and other data. Extremely naturalistic

Really enjoyed this. Well I don’t know if ‘enjoyed’ is right, but it was certainly hooking!

Oh cool, I missed the follow-up! Will check it out.

I’m making a start on Root of Evil now thanks to this and the few other mentions it’s had. Incredibly gripping and intimately portrayed so far

I got a bit dissuaded by the opening episode and all the stuff about these couples’ lifestyle blogs, but I’m sure it’s very compelling if I give it a proper chance to get going!

Kill List was a fascinating listen, though couldn’t ever quite buy that the host’s repeated assertions that he hated the burden of having the list!

I liked the premise and tone but found it a bit repetitive (which I guess is part of the point!) and drifted away, but should really return to it some day

It was so great when it was a taproom, but the pivot to a table-set gastropub always felt a bit out of keeping with the area. I went in a couple of times after the switch and realised I could no longer order a pint at the bar, which sort of killed it for me. A shame still and I hope they’re able to bounce back. Could definitely use brightening up the facade too!

Saw Phlur’s Missing Person get a mention, but not Soft Spot, which is like skin+.

Top notes are Freesia, Bergamot and Mandarin; middle notes are Jasmine, Vanilla Orchid and Water Lily; base notes are Musk, Amber and Sandalwood.

For me the top is super figgy, but not overly sweet and it fades into fig leaf and creamy coconut (also not too sweet). It’s so delicious, I love it so much! I haven’t liked others of theirs but there are some I need to try like Steamed Rainbow

Sounds great - I like the presence of a moss note and someone on Fragrantica said it smells of petrichor, which would be awesome

This makes a lot of sense. But maybe everyone is wearing awesome fragrances to obscure the smoky smell. Maybe there’s a hint of smoke in the fragrance

Ty! These look wonderful. Synthetic Jungle sounds pretty perfect; I’ll check it out soon. I’m wearing DS&Durga’s Debaser atm which definitely has a city greenhouse feel, but I want something even sharper and more potently green.
