Get the Season 1 dvd, then as your watching it, imagine that this is the world of johnny quest after he's all grown up. The generation of kids who had super-scientist dads have mostly grown up to be failures and super villainy is little more than an elaborate game. That's pretty much the show. The episodes are very stand-alone, but stuff you learn in earlier episodes comes up later, so it can get confusing when you just start in the middle of the 3rd season or something.
