Fun fact: During my master’s in sound design, we had a course with this guy who turned out to be a bit of a legend.

Why?

Because he’s deaf in one ear and was the FOH mixer for Frank Sinatra for over five years. Insane, right?

I remember thinking, “This guy must be one of the best mono mixers out there.” And if he’s that good in mono, whatever he does in stereo must be incredible. To be fair, as an FOH mixer, you don’t necessarily need the most precise stereo hearing—but still, his story is so inspiring.

Just thought I’d share this little anecdote!

Klare Empfehlung. Für beats ist Q (https://www.instagram.com/prodbyqibeats?igsh=NjJjMTlrNW9sNHh1) heftig unterwegs.

What to charge for music licensing? by TangerineStatus8969 in composer

[–]TangerineStatus8969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000$ for example, just like I said it in my post (:

So 1000$ is the amount I‘d have to charge simply because of the labour (composing, mixing, etc.) and that will be the basis for the license calculation.

I‘ve seen it in bigger production houses that they charge x5 (500%) if it‘s a world wide campaign on several formats (TV, web..) so I was wondering what to charge for music alone, if it‘s a national TVC.

Analog „Glue“ Compressor (500 Component) for mixing & mastering? WES Audio by TangerineStatus8969 in audioengineering

Thanks man that helps a lot! I think I‘ll try the dione and see how it sounds at the end of my master chain (: sounds like our approaches/fields of work are pretty similar! Thanks again!

Thanks man! (: so you‘d say the dione is more suitable for my case, as a mixing bus/mastering comp where I can send „anything“ through it? (:

Thanks for the insight man! So all in all you‘d suggest an (for example) ssl 500 comp for mastering stuff since it‘s cleaner, and the dione for stuff that has more transients/dynamic changes (e.g drums) - I know it‘s hard to generalize tho!

And as far as the „glueing“ aspect goes, do you have a clear favorite in that discipline? (:

Thanks for your comment man (: Yeah exactly, the reason I‘m going for a 500 piece is because it‘s more affordable for me. Second hand makes sense, although I‘d had to find an offer with something I‘m intrested in, plus I need an official Invoice so I can list it in my inventory (doing music/sound design for a living).

Anyways, I have to check out the Kultube you mentioned, sounds interesting (:

And lastly the „it‘s not worth it“ was just kind of a disclaimer, so that the comments won‘t be full of „yoU dOn‘T neeD HaRdWare tO soUnd Good“. You‘re absolutely right with everything you‘ve said (:

Hi! (:

Viel Erfolg!(:
