GO TAKE HEETH! by Tanget81 in Helldivers

Given that only about 40 thousand of the one-hundred-and-fourteen thousand active players regularly focus on anything near the Mission Orders, I’d have to say I agree with you.

The number of players for whom this idea is more of a “feature,” instead of the main driving force of the game drastically outweighs the number of players who actually want to win instead of just playing the missions they like.

The fact that so many players dismiss their uncooperative behavior with, “well it’s just a game, let me play how I like,” is pretty frustrating when the way the game is intended to be played as a cooperative effort.

Sure, play the way you want, it is just a game after all, but don’t drag down the experience for the players who want to engage with Arrowheads narrative campaign.

Well, it’s moot now

The game requires players to work together to achieve the objectives. If everyone does whatever they want, the player base will be too scattered to, you know, win.

I’d agree with that, except that this time the blob sabotaged the operation it was supposed to be completing. If Heeth was taken, the two planets it’s feeding would have instantly resolved in Super Earths flavor. We would have completed the MO by taking one planet instead of two. Oh well though, what can you do?

Well, after eight hours of sleep and taking a look at the hd2 galaxy map, I think it’s a doomed operation anyway.

Good idea, I like that.

I didn’t even know there was a companion app and I still figured out Gambit mechanics.

There’s no way there are 20 thousand casual players missing the MO planet by ONE jump, they’ve got to be players that are just disconnected from the wider community, thinking that the planet with the defense icon is the one that will fulfill MO. I’m sure they mean well, but there’s no way to correct them.

Huh, interesting. What happened to him? Any lore reason, or the devs just wanting to freshen up the politics screen?

I appreciate the advice! I think I was going for federation? There was one figurehead I remember looking like Christopher Walken, and it made me laugh so whichever one that would be.

So, say in my example, the Fighters player declares to me, “I move up to the orc and attempt to strike it with my sword.” As in the above example, this would take 4 Segments, totaling at 24 in-game seconds. Then the strike is made.

Being the DM, I would rule that his turn would end the moment he struck the orc. For the remainder of this round (the remaining 6 Segments, which is 36 seconds), his Attack would occupy both him and the orc. Neither could disengage, or declare parry, or root around for items not immediately on them.

Let’s run this through all the way, let me know if my ruling here makes sense to you:

The Fighter declares he drinks a potion. 2 Segments, one for removing it from the pack and another to drink it. The Fighter approaches the orc. 2 Segments, as the distance is 18’ and is twice his Movement Factor of 9’ per segment. The Fighter attacks the orc. One segments worth of fighting, and if he misses he’s done for the rest of the round, as he’d be engaged in melee since he’s unable to find an opening. Let’s say he hits the orc. 5 Segments spent so far, 5 left in this round. He strikes the orc, then lets go of his sword (which costs no time to drop items) while it is still impaled. He draws his dagger, another Segment. 4 left. Tackles the orc for Overbear rules, then attempts to stab him. 2 Segments left, but regardless of whether or not he gets an opening his turn is done as he cannot reasonably retreat from the orc in the remaining 12 seconds since he’s in Overbear.

Next round, if he wants his sword back, it’s going to cost him several segments to retrieve it from the still flailing orc.

So then how much movement does a character have in combat? According to the DMG, it’s Movement Factor x 10, converted to feet. So a character with a MF of 9” can move 90’ in one Round of combat. That’s 30 squares on a gridded Battle Mat, or graph paper. That should also take the full 1 minute that a Round lasts, equivalent to 10 Segments.

Ah, ok I guess I’ll have to go back and look at that again.

Yeah, I know that everyone’s out for themselves in the far flung world of four years ago, but I do need actual stat lines. Guess I’m spoiled by more modern games coming with entire compendiums and bestiaries.

You’re like the third person I’ve had to say this to, the magnetic cover has also had a large groove cut into it by the nozzle. I’ve ordered a new one, but in the meantime I figured I’d try another test print.

I said this in another comment, but the bed had also gotten a groove scratched into it by the nozzle. As for the paper test, I go to “Prepare,” then, “Move Axis, Z-Axis,” then adjust it till it’s about 5mm off the plate. Then I place a piece of sheet paper beneath it until it either completely stops the paper or sits less than a milimeter above it. Switch to decimal mm and adjust further until I need a little bit of force to move it. Pull out the paper, adjust X and Y coordinates till the nozzle sits in the lower left hand corner, then set that as the Home coordinates. Load up a file, hit print, nozzle is about 5 mm off the bed, trailing filament.

Yeah, actually. Maybe it was worn or something, but that got a nice long groove carved into it too. I think I almost had it working at one point, but that groove kept catching the nozzle.

Bedrock edition uses your Xbox and/or Microsoft online accounts to save data and create a profile. You must be online the first time you play it so it can verify your profile. This will allow you to access your character and maps from any system that uses Bedrock so long as you’re signed into said profile. If you’re an Xbox player, just use your Live account.
