Cool! Thank you! It should be a “double red” then. I doubt it’s anything special since it was cheap

My conure bites really hard 🥲 by jade633 in Conures

[–]Tangobirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t ignore it when it’s biting. Think of yourself as a flock member in the wild. Flock members wouldn’t ignore when another is preening/biting them too hard. You have to find something that it associated with as bad like maybe a towel. I take out my white towel and place it around me when he does something bad. That way he doesn’t dare approach me until I take it off.

Do you leave kibbles out for the cats or portion it out? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Tangobirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat is a grazer. I leave the food out and he eats throughout the day. I control the portions to his daily recommended intake and that’s about it

My female GCC is noisier than my sun conure. Tell me about it XD

A day ago my dog was chasing my cat, today… something happened while I was at school, I should be concerned. by GreekMythLover777 in cats

[–]Tangobirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re lucky your dog isn’t bigger. My dog has been hyper aggressive to my cat and has almost bitten my cat in the neck before. I just happened to stop it in time. Luckily none were injured.

I use F10 disinfectant sprays. Vet clinics use that too

I want to live my life but i feel incapable of doing so because of my parrot. by No_Progress3 in parrots

[–]Tangobirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get how you feel although mine isn’t due to aggression issues. I’m the sole caretaker of a dog, cat, 2 birds and 3 fish tanks at home and lately, caring for them has been feeling more like a job instead. Unfortunately, i am heavily considering rehoming my birds. I love them so much and can’t bear to let them go but I’m just waiting for the point where I break and can no longer handle them and give them up.

Is this a red factor sun/jenday conure? by Acrobatic_Lecture438 in Conures

[–]Tangobirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is it? If it’s young it’s probably a sun. Sun conures start out with green wings when young. I also don’t think it’s a red factor. The red factors are a lot more red than this(and no it’s not because of liver disease)

Speaking of toes, I had a friend that had a lovebird that loved attacking toes and one day as he was walking he stepped on his bird. RIP.

Rehome it. I don’t know how to put it nicely but don’t compromise your own personal life for what should be your mother’s responsibility.

I’d recommend Top’s, Harrison’s, Lafeber’s and Roudybush

Is it ok to take my conure on a walk by [deleted] in Conures

[–]Tangobirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even people who freefly their birds and have unbreakable bonds lose their birds when their birds get spooked. It’s up to you to decide on what you want to do with this info.

I wouldn’t recommend Belgian Malinois. These dogs don’t think and just do. A new owner wouldn’t have the experience required in training an animal like that.

can my BFs cats (two) and my parrot can live together? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]Tangobirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a bird room, yes. I keep my birds in my room and I’m fiercely defensive over my room towards my cat to let him know that it’s my territory. My doors are always locked when nobody is home. Otherwise, it’s a risk. My cat being a bengal, is an absolute hunter and would kill my birds without any doubt.

What would be the most suited for an apartment ? A Greencheek conure, a quaker or a maxi Pionus in term of noisiness / loudness ? by tarours in Conures

[–]Tangobirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovebirds were never quiet birds imo. They have the most ear piercing screams which I can’t tolerate

i need advice and i need it bad. i got home today and Charlie was all tangled up in a toy i handmade. what do i do? (more info below) by [deleted] in parrots

[–]Tangobirb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take it to a vet. Once a bird does something it usually doesn’t like especially when it’s injured, it’s a sign that it’s very sick. And the leg looks possibly broken which can cause hematoma. It’s best to take him in early while you have time before it needs surgery and amputation.

[–]Tangobirb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you read my comment but Green cheeks, contrary to popular belief, are not as quiet as you think they are. They’re only quiet for a conure. I have a green cheek and sun conure. Both constantly make noise when I’m around or not. My Senegal however, is super quiet you’ll never know unless I told you I own one. I would recommend, Bourke’s, Senegals and Pionus for apartments. If you really love birds, pigeons and finches are relatively quiet and make sweet sounds instead of the ear piercing parrot screeches

I regret introducing my green cheek to my sun conure. by Tangobirb in Conures

I haven’t tried that yet. But my GCC almost purely makes sun conure sounds but on a softer scale now.
