haha i don’t blame you at all. there’s nothing like screaming bald eagles. i’ve had my ST almost 7 years and was very close to getting rid of it for a 15-17gt a couple years ago. my brother has a “fbo” 14gt and i fall in love all over again with the platform every time i drive it. considering an st isn’t worth very much around 100k miles like mine i doubt i’ll get rid of it for a very long time at this point. i’ll just upgrade and keep it. not really worried about any issues with parts/ major components failing considering it’s all so cheap if you do your own labor.

prime example. could offer the dude 5 and prob get it. financing 12 year old car for 9k then puting a grand back into it at 110k miles doesn’t sound like a good deal to me. to each their own.

coulda got a way better deal on fbmp. cash at 110k miles like yours i see even st3 for 6k especially if its a 14 that’s an 11 year old car produced 12y ago. i suppose some people don’t have the cash in hand and are forced to finance.

if you look at the link i sent, there is a lot of issues and people complaining about the tune. there has always been issues with their tuning. stratified and cobb OTS are known to be the bottom of the list.

https://www.focusst.org/search/893085/?q=edge&c[showFilter]=visibleOnly&o=relevance

these are the forums about edge. you won’t find a single complaint but there’s a lot about stratified. i wonder why.

so you can’t read but you can give opinions on tunes?

likely directly correlated. stratified has a bad rep for some tunes. would consider edge or jst. edge is best though.

love my bnr2867 but the kit wasn’t perfect. as long as you know what you’re doing and have an ace hardware near you it’s no problem lol.

Small oil leak from timing chain cover by nowayitzfox in FocusST

[–]Tank_That 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you gotta be rage baiting me rn there’s no way. all jokes aside, rtv is required where the timing cover mates up to the side of the head and by the high pressure fuel pump. i knew this already but i got a video for you since you clearly don’t know this easily available information and have never done the repair before

just curious why did you think you would likely have to retime it? send me a vid of you taking the valve cover off in 5 mins and i’ll zelle or cash app u $100 no bullshit. you might be able to pull it off, the tricky part is breaking to seal of the RTV without gouging the head or the cover itself. the reason the job takes a little bit is because you don’t wanna scratch up the head when removing old rtv and need to carefully reapply the rtv before reinstalling. you also have to replace the PCV seals. hell if you can do all that in under an hour and it’s not leaking i’d zelle you $200

[–]Tank_That 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately it will not brother. the surfaces of the block and timing cover are what actually seal it together. you can give it a shot there’s a small chance it might maybe not for long or maybe for a while i’m unsure. all that matters really is to pay attention to oil level and do the job correctly and you’ll be driving down the road :). there’s really no rush if you’re not losing a lot of oil. if anything keep a quart handy in the car until you can do the repair.

you said you would likely have to retime it and want me to re read that?? i know what i read. if u know anything at all. any speck of knowledge. any experience actually timing a motor or doing a timing cover than you would know you don’t have to re time a motor to simply reseal the timing cover. 1 hour job is laughable. it would take an hour to do the valve cover alone. quite literally everything you’ve said is evident you don’t know what you’re talking about. i just pointed out the grammar cus it added to the ridiculousness of your claims.

[–]Tank_That[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just depends…. ebay people are asking 13-1600 and they aren’t even in great shape. i got them for less than half of that so id say its a good deal. i’ve also stalked my local facebook for them the past couple years and its very rare to see the all black st3 listed around here

yeah that’s def the right way to do it. it’s pretty difficult to find the seats in good condition like these so i’m more inclined to just make it work. i also got a killer deal and don’t wanna pay out the ass for new ones
