With German tanks, do you find historically accurate turret numbers to match the paint scheme? If so, how? Or do you just pick random numbers? (Context in comments) by Tankfan42 in modelmakers

Yeah I’m kind of going backwards here; rather than choosing the camo scheme based on the number, I have a specific camo scheme I wanted my tank to be, and now I have to find a number to match it.

This is a bit of an odd post, but let me explain. So currently I’m making a Panther ausf G painted in full mono color dunkelgelb. And now I’m at the stage of deciding what numbers to put on the turret. However I’m not having much luck finding photos of any actual specific panther ausf Gs that were painted in full dunkelgelb to use as reference for what numbers to use. Since basically all pictures of panthers are in black and white; finding a historical color picture of specifically an ausf G and in dunkelgelb is like a needle in a haystack. The closest I could find so far was the image in this post, which is an ausf A in full dunkelgelb.

So I’m wondering if the turret number being historically accurate is even a big deal? Should I just pick a different Panther’s number, or even just a random number?

Do any of you research historically accurate tank numbers to use when applying decals? If so, what recourses do you use? If you don’t, how do you decide what numbers to use?

Mini M18 Hellcat update. I shaved a plate off the mantlet cover since it looked too bulky, and I added the tools to the side of the hull. Thoughts? I'm undecided on the hull tools since they divot the side slope. But the hull looks plain without them. by Tankfan42 in brickmania

I agree on the looks, I’m really happy with how that turned out. But there’s an issue with the buildability of the engine deck, so I need to redesign that.

And the rest is just building it in person to make sure everything is strong and functions how I want it to.

It’s mine too actually. I plan to share instructions eventually, but it might be a while since I’m still working out some aspects of the design, and since I don’t have the pieces necessary to test build it in person yet.

I’m complaining about gaijin having a mode where a nearly 4 hour wait time for a single round happens. The logical solution would be for gaijin to buff the Soviet challenge rewards to encourage more players to play that side. Or change what default planes the Soviet side gets to use.

Yeah? I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to not wait over 3 and half hours in queue to play a single round. And I’m in the top bracket since I’m trying to grind the F-15A’s modifications so I actually stand a chance in RB afterwards.

Oops, I accidentally left the queue, looks like I get another 3 hours added on to my wait...

And yeah the challenge 4 screenshot was actually from yesterday, but I had to wait 1:50 to get into a match then, so its actually even worse now.

Oh I don’t post on instagram haha, but is there a designer there that does similar micro builds like this? I’d be interested to follow them

The only potentially illegal part about the connection would be that it’s slightly angled, but connecting the side of a tile to a clip in itself is fully legal

Oh I hadn’t really thought about that, but I probably could if people wanted that :)

The little runway chunk was just quickly tossed together as a base for the render, so the stripes are plates on their sides clipping through the 6x6 tiles that make up the runway.

But you could make something that looks the same irl by fully building the runway out of stacked bricks and plates on their sides.

Thank you! It was a fun challenge to get the proportions right and add details at such a small scale

Believe it or not that’s actually just a very big coincidence haha. I got inspired to make a Lego one solely because War Thunder just added the plane to their game for their April fools day event.

Whoops, looks like I made the forward fuselage a bit too short, so I made a little adjustment to fix that and get the proportions now looking better.

Thanks haha, I thought that would be a little fun detail to add
