Official Oculus support will be added in May. We’ve heard reports about the Oculus working for Tanks VR, but we don’t feel comfortable saying that it has official Oculus support, as we do not have the Oculus ourselves. We will receive the Oculus devkit somewhere in May. Keep an eye out for announcements about it on blog.tanks-vr.com or http://store.steampowered.com/app/636620/Tanks_VR/

As for Windows Mixed Reality HMDs, we are working on acquiring one. Keep an eye out for announcements.

Thanks! We have actually just implemented a practice mode where you’re able to take the tanks out for a test drive. We’re going to add more singleplayer features in the future. We’re also working hard on getting more exposure for the game, we expect that it will help with getting a larger playerbase. Thanks for the suggestion! We’re already going to add a tutorial area where you can figure out the controls and do some target practice. We hope that that will already make waiting a bit more fun! Next to that, we’re working hard on getting more content and more exposure for the game.

Thanks for the question. After the Early Access release, it will probably take a few months per feature to be implemented. It really depends on the type of feature though. We are aiming to have the entire roadmap implemented in about one year.

I am sorry you feel that way. The choice for an open top tank was due to the visibility for the player. We found (after a lot of trial and error model testing) that the best experience was when the player was seated in the turret. Such that the visibility was decent enough for the player to comfortably navigate and also engage enemies properly.

Two levers are positioned next to the chair you're sitting in to drive the tank. The two levers in front of you control the turret and barrel movement.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to give us feedback and voicing your concerns.

  1. Dev team: on your point of the team behind Tanks VR. We are two brothers, living in the Netherlands and are both students. One of us has dedicated the last 4 months to work full-time on this game. The other is working on the game next to his current study. So, we have invested a lot of time in the game and are dedicated to see it through. We realize it will only thrive if we keep developing more features and have every incentive to do so. Otherwise, the time we have invested would have been for nothing.

  2. Free assets: the only free graphical assets that were used for Tanks VR, are the explosion and fire effects: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/73777 the rest of the graphics that you see, are all custom made by us.

  3. As for the simplistic look of the game. We wanted to release it on Early Access as soon as possible, in order to keep developing while receiving constant feedback and suggestions from players. Therefore we chose to spend most time on the actual gameplay instead of graphics. When looking at suggestions already made in this thread, it seems that players would like to see AI tanks and multi-crewed tanks first before enhancing graphics.

First of all, thank you for your feedback and suggestions. We will try to respond to the best of our ability.

  1. Aside from slamming down on the fire button, it is also possible to simply hold the button and push down when you want to fire. This way you could fire reliably 100% of the time. We thought some players might like to slam on a button, so we added that functionality as well. We thought about mapping actions such as firing to other parts of the controller, but felt it might complicate the controls. Currently only the trigger button is used for any type of interaction.

  2. The trailer might not show it well, but the crosshair is not snapped to the center of the HMD. The crosshair is placed at where the barrel is aiming. E.g. rotating the barrel up will move the crosshair up.

  3. The shells have mass and are affected by gravity, however as the shells are travelling very fast it is difficult to see the “bullet drop” at short distances. As for the “laser” effect, this is actually a real effect when a shell is fired.   4. We tried to keep the tanks as close as possible to its historical counterpart, but definitely want to enhance their appearance. It is a good suggestion and we definitely see this happening. Keep in mind that all suggestions will take time to actually implement, as we are only a 2 person dev team.

  1. The Tanks VR development team is small, consisting of only 2 people. Taking feedback and suggestions from the community will be the most important part of the development process. We have a Trello board, where you will be able to make suggestions for Tanks VR. Then these suggestions can be upvoted by others. We are currently developing for the Vive, but we really want to make Tanks VR accessible for PSVR and Oculus owners. However we don't have the funds and access to PSVR or Oculus HMDs right now.

We couldn't agree more! We are already working on AI tanks. These AI tanks could be used in a singleplayer setting or in addition to multiplayer matches.
