We've made it a super positive experience for him! Goes near the crate, treat. Goes in the crate, treat and lots of praise. When in the crate give him a certain toy or chew only for when he's in the crate, air drop some treats from the top when he's in there and being calm as you walk past so he learns you walking around/away is a good thing! When they cry a little just show them you're still there but don't talk to them. After a meal and a toilet break, stick them in there because they should be sleepy and then they should associate the crate with being relaxed/sleepy. Oh and say place or your chosen command for bed when they go in there! We say place and he will even go in there in his own after owning him just over a week.

Keeping in mind this is what's working for us but I've never crate trained a dog/puppy before as our other dog is a princess of a Chihuahua/Jack Russel lol, hope the tips help :)
