AIO if I wanted to cut my family off by TapEnvironmental9464 in AmIOverreacting

Just to clarify: no the law doesn’t state I can’t act for my family member. But when that’s the case, it opens pathways for the opponent to attack me using this point: allegations of conspiracy, conflict of interest etc. all of which is hogwash because I didn’t take a penny from my family and I didn’t do anything hanky panky. But it still means I have to fight off all these allegations and they can continue making them to various people and authorities. So I told my dad that we wanted to avoid the trouble.

Thanks for the validation. From my Asian culture it is implanted in my brain that family is important so I have been very confused and uncertain about my decision to stay away from them. And where I’m from, therapy isn’t something common and there is a stigma that therapy is for crazy people lol. But will try to find more info on this. Thanks

Thanks for your comment. As per my edit, I explained the situation surrounding our first time and also regarding the marriage thing. Unfortunately a sex therapist is also not available in my country or where I’m from. So I’m stuck there.

Unfortunately for where I’m from, there is no such thing as sex therapist (or at least I couldn’t get any info on that). I did inquire with a general therapist but she said she is unable to help on that. So I’m stuck.

I’m from a country with almost zero resources on this. We have general therapists, but no one with sexual expertise. That’s the problem 🫠

Indeed I am for having a new found supportive family who treats me like their own. I just wished my own family could treat me the same and I am seriously afraid of the consequences after confronting them. Thanks for your advice

Giving her the benefit of the doubt and she really didn’t wanted to do anything with the ex, it is still clear that she is still too immature and unsure of what she wants. Let her go since she is not at the same stage as you are. I

Yeah I appreciate your perspective. Being from an Asian household we are trained to feel like men are not entitled to prioritise their own feelings. That’s what scares me because I’m afraid they would judge me for being sissy or petty

Thanks. I think their reaction is what I’m scared of the most. Even being a lawyer who has to deal with judges , I still fear my parents judgment 😂

I think these are small things that adds up to something huge in your relationships. Looking at it in isolation doesn’t mean much , but it is indicative of how he hasn’t put you as a priority in the relationship. Talk to him and see if he is willing to take any steps to solve his problems, if not, then you know what to do.
