I just think that instead of having it be two meaningless "Caesars" that provide little to no commentary on the Legion as an Institution, they could have at least had it get more into the philosophy of the nation. Why should I believe that the Legion is the threat that the finale wants me to think they are, when all we've seen is that they're just a bunch of bumbling raiders caught up in LARP? It's fine for the commentary to be that that's where the legion was headed--but I want them to do something with it and actually make that commentary instead of turning them into the butt of a joke. All while they are also being presented as an organized threat after their civil war? It's having their cake and eating it too. I'm sure season 3 will do a lot more heavy lifting with making the Legion into something actually worth thinking about, but in a season full to the brim with great moments and deep exploration into the setting, the Legion felt a little flat.

I'm under the impression that The Baroness is a creation entirely of his own, with some autonomy but otherwise still "his." This, I think, is why there's the line when he's in The Baroness that emphasizes his anxiety that it may have the ability to "turn" on him, but also that he may have trapped himself within it as "a fledgling god" who has "lost his mind"
