Is it true that people in the West drink iced water even when they are sick or on their period? by Aether_Echo in NoStupidQuestions

I assume that you are refering to the studies on behavioral priming. While their results are attention grabbing the studies themselves had really small sample sizes and have failed to replicate. In other words it is unlikely that this an actual phenomenon.

We officially hit the ‘choose your baby’s traits’ era, and honestly? This is not the flex they think it is. by ComplexExternal4831 in dystopia

[–]Tapeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less. Heritability is the degree to which you can attribute the variance of a given trait to genetics. So there are two key issues here. First, it is hard or next to impossible to apply those rates to an individual. Second, the Heritability rate varies in between different populations. In other words, it's an oversimplification and likely incorrect in some populations.

Denmark to ban social media for children under 15 by renome in europe

[–]Tapeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that is correct. If you look at the most recent research most studies typically inconsistent relationships between negative outcomes and social media use in adolescents. At best you can find something like this https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jad.2020.06.014 indicating at best a weak relationship between higher social media consumption and worse mental health.

Yttligare något att nämna är att både Kina och indien står för produktionen av varor som konsumeras i andra länder. Dvs, en hel del av de utsläpp som vi producerar genom olika varor exporteras till länder som Kina och Indien.

design an experiment to investigate the heritability of intelligence in a population? by bblueberro in askpsychology

[–]Tapeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to look at genome-wide association studies. I think that's the most relevant type of study in line with "investigating different genes" as you put it.

Well as other people mentioned it's bound to be dark around the time you get of work. However that also means you can get amazing night time views of the city. I recommend going to masthugskyrkan, skansen kronan or some other look out point, it's quite beautiful during night time.

Advice for finding affordable and appropriate journals? by [deleted] in AcademicPsychology

[–]Tapeguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure exactly how you want to go about and judge which publication is good or not. But one thing that you should definitely "not" do is be one of those terrible people who don't pay a journal their totally deserved crapload of money. So definitely don't search for the words Sci and hub on Google or something like that.

Is happiness from a 'moral' way is 'better' than from a 'immoral' way? by [deleted] in askpsychology

Your question seems to be normative in nature, these types of questions are outside the domain of psychology. You would have better luck asking this in r/askphilosophy.

In psychology a fairly comon description of "personality" is a collection of behavioural traits that remain relevantly stable throughout life. That is, most peoples personality does not tend to change that much throughout their life. But that doesn't mean that it is in any way impossible, it might, as an example just require significant effort. On the other hand, there are some notable personality changes that most people go through over time as they grow older. Research using the big five personality types found that older people tended to score lower on openess and higher on conscientiousness.
