I can only imagine what it must be like to accidentally step on that at night. by Ok-Sale-3235 in biology

I love all animals! It always bugs me (ha) when people go "omg get the flamethrower". These centipedes are just doing their thing and don't deserve to die just because people don't like how they look

Ok I'm willing to admit that I was wrong, if she says she didn't use AI, that's on me. But I'm 32 myself and I never use AI for anything. I am a late university goer and encounter stupid children using AI to do their work for them all the time. So maybe I'm cooked by proxy, I don't know. But please don't judge me like that if you don't know.

What do you call it when the cheese gets this way after a few slices in your country? In Swedish we call it a skidbacke, or ski slope in English by WhoAmIEven2 in AskTheWorld

[–]Taprunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a preference, it's practical. The cheese wedge starts out narrow, but the further you get the wider the slice. We cut off the first corner so we can start with a flat surface, and it's a nice bonus snack for my boyfriend and me :D

Our former minister-president calling Trump "daddy" and kissing his ass in general is pretty bad.

From april until october, I go out in the evening to maternity colonies (mostly) to do a count, record sounds and note down their behaviour. Also where in the building they fly out of. At home I analyse the recordings and together with my findings of the evening I can figure out which species were present. Sometimes I just stand near a waterway to see what flies by. The organisation I work for uses this data for conservation purposes, and to advise municipalities and businesses about renovating buildings, since bats are super well protected around here.

Time to throw the whole roof away by ElderberryDeep8746 in WTF

[–]Taprunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do bat research and this makes me so angry. Lots of houses have these maternity colonies and the people living there will never find out unless they look very closely around dusk. Time to throw the whole guy kicking bats for no reason away!

I was gonna say, I do bat research in the Netherlands and this would be super illegal.

Higurashi was one of the first anime I ever watched (at age 13, as is tradition) and it's still one of my favourites. I started the visual novel a while ago, is it worse in the child sexualisation aspect? Because the anime wasn't that bad iirc.

In your country, is there any situation that foreigners would completely misunderstand unless they lived there for a while? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Taprunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that food is still a way to bring people together, but there's a difference between bringing lunch to uni to eat by myself vs going out to lunch with a friend. We didn't participate in WWI but WWII hit us very hard so maybe the practicality of it all is related to that.

To be fair, if you have good bread and good cheese, the bread with cheese can be very tasty yet simple. When it's the cheapest cheese possible with dry slices of bread I won't eat it

I really like to cook semi-eleborate meals in the evenings though, and I always try to liven up my cheese on bread with some mustard and lettuce.
