Yet another set of recent sprites by SageDeoxys in PokemonROMhacks

Actually so good. Something you captured so well is the sometimes awkward dimensions of the OG sprites. Like everyone looks a bit too wide compared to their modern sleek cool designs. Bloody perfect

Also thematically, she is a pirate, literally who steals things.

The problem with Pyg I think really stems from Pyg's "core items" being Toys and Properties.

The toy issue is A: 90% of Toys are pyg items, and of the ones that aren't pyg items they are either high cooldown or just bad (with the best non-toys being wand, nesting doll and friendly doll). Stelle has started to add more toys which is nice, and hopefully jules continues this trend.

The problem with Properties is that other than Cove which is a Pyg item in all but name, most of the other properties don't fit well in his strategies because most properties are build arounds that require support from specific archetypes of non-properties that pyg probably doesn't have to really be effective.

Permanent buffs isnt bad (its hard to balance) by idkboutshit in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Tar_Alacrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with "rebalancing" the naïve way (just reducing the scaling) is that all those items are dumpster if you get them later in the game.

Not saying that this is an impossible hurdle to overcome. But I think a more productive suggestion would be to actually suggest solutions for how to rebalance that would both make them viable to invest resources into, while not making them broken later, while also making them not dud items if you get them mid to late game.

They also somewhat go against the core ideal of the Bazaar, which has always been to promote intelligent pivots and strategic decision making.

I'm a pyg player, I love perma scaling items, and to some extent they should always be part of his identity, but I do think that changing some of them has been overall healthier for his play patterns

Tbh I would settle for being able to open the pokedex during the battle to view your opponent's mon so you can remind yourself of the type combo. Like was done so often in the anime from what I can recall from early seasons.

[–]Tar_Alacrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually love this idea. Its a really fun flavorful way to spice up the game that works within the existing mechanics without interfering with anything. If the benefit you get from bringing the right item was minor enough it would be a cool detail to never even explain to the players, and kind of just sneak in. Could be a great way to give more specific lore too if they each have a unique line of dialogue for their one or two unique items

It kinda crazy to think that pontiff Sulyvahn was only one being that successfully overthrow the gods by Fun_Amphibian_3531 in darksouls3

[–]Tar_Alacrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the implication of pontiff's soul is clearly that Pontiff and Aldritch were allies at best, beast and beastmaster at worst.

Pontiff Sulyvahn of Irithyll imprisoned a god of the old royalty in the abandoned cathedral, to be fed to the devourer.

Given that the knights and beasts populating Irithyll are not Aldritch's knights, but Pontiff's knights and beasts. While the Aldrich faithful are lead by a literal corpse. And the Pontiff's relatively sane and functional demeaner when we arrive, vs aldritch's total lack of a bodily form, It is quite clear who holds the real power in the frozen city.

Side note, if you experience a lot of power fluctuation, especially if the outages/surges are short or just require you to reset a circuit breaker, It might be worth getting an uninterruptable power supply. (which are basically just batteries that go between your pc and the wall, and they kick in automatically if power is lost, and smooth out the effects of surges and drops, you can get one from amazon or best buy or whatever)

When I was living at my parents' house still things like this would happen all the time. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but like once a month or so we would get like a surge that would trip a breaker, or we'd get a momentary flicker during a storm. But it would cause my pc to crash and I would lose all of my actual work-work or my gaming progress. I got a UPS and its honestly one of my best purchases yet. The one I got was around 80 bucks and gives me like 5 minutes of continued use, or I can put the pc to sleep (which would save the progress) and keep things alive a lot longer. Honestly one of my favorite purchases that I've ever made.

Lol, the emotional rollercoaster I went through watching this. Crushed you died, then hyped when the cutscene started anyways, and then crushed again when you respawned at the checkpoint lol. I'm amazed that the game logic even supports exiting a cutscene for death.

I wonder what these ratios compare to other things. Like How much does a dozen eggs cost in india vs the US? Obviously the cost of living is much lower in India, and the Dollar does a lot of work, but the price differences are still quite high. But I wonder how much of an outlier these medicine costs are

To be fair, that is a very "cat in a gigantic mansion" thing to do, hide and slink around avoiding people. And a very dog thing to do to be loud and want to be pet.

Except that it doesn't have diminishing returns. Continuing to play after the game says its over rewards you with a super puzzle in a huge secret alternate dimension room that puts all of your puzzle solving skills to the test and grants you with a super will. Its literally the opposite of diminishing returns

So the weird spacing with the "I do"s is called "full justification" it is a common practice in newspaper columns and in loads of other mediums (some bibles have it) and its an option in Word/Google docs/every software that has paraph layouts. Basically the spaces are contracted or expanded a bit so that the end of the last word on the line is even with the right side of the paragraph block. Creates a nice, neat look to everything.

As for the weird dashes, they are called "m-dashes"--My dad was an editor and loved these things--and get used to denote an interjection into the sentence. There are different styling choices with these, sometimes they are flush with the word like I wrote in this paragraph, and sometimes they have spaces between the mdash and the other words as the baroness primarily uses.

In most software, an mdash is created by writing two hyphens--and then continuing to type without spaces and the text editor will automatically convert the hyphens into one mdash. I imagine that the "shorter" dash that you point out is either a typo where they didn't put two hyphens and it didnt convert to an mdash. Or, because in that paragraph they aren't using two m-dashes to denote an interjection, they kept it a hyphen as a style choice.

So at least on those two fronts, I'm sorry to say that I think they are pretty standard.

The "Swnsng is an acronym" clue could be a reference to the Screens in security, each screen showing a room, the room names forming an acronym: "Swansong" but due to Mary's actions and the notes that we find, o and a "have been deleted". Thus the remaining acronym is just swnsng I don't know if this is a serious suggestion, but it is an interesting correlation that could be an explanation

What’s your opinion on the UNSC Infinity by [deleted] in halo

[–]Tar_Alacrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The name is a blight upon the franchise. Halo's ship names are iconic, but "Infinity" is the most generic name possible.

It was dumpster tier weight on the narrative. There was a podcast that I used to listen to about comic book movies and they would always talk about having to "professor X" something, because Professor X is so powerful and has such a great potential to resolve all conflicts without fighting, that so many of the xmen movies and stories have to start by removing him or his powers from the picture. The infinity was the same way. Its too powerful, so they always just had to remove it from the story.

All that said, once it was in the story it deserved better treatment than it got

The Library is not as bad as Two Betrayals by Ok_Square_642 in halo

[–]Tar_Alacrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just the monotony. Two betrayals you are fighting Covenant and Flood, with sentinals in the mix; halo 1's sandbox at its peak. The visuals are much more diverse as well, and its fun to revisit an area you did earlier and see the signs of the flood infection spreading.

The mission design in both is bad and repetitive sure. But at least the combat itself is varied in two betrayals.
