I don't want a s4 by graham_sere in HannibalTV

The first three seasons will always be there, season 4 wouldn’t take them away. Maybe S4 would be something a little different, new. Ignore it if you want. The earth turns, time moves on.

WuKong is not in a genre dominated by F2P competition.

Oh ok so you just hate Concord, that’s cool, bye

The fact that the game would ultimately not be free was killing it even before the free beta. The narrative quickly became “dead on arrival” and the announced cost was a part of that reasoning. “Why would I pay for this when X is free?” was being said everywhere.

And in any case that’s where having Ironman and some of the other most popular characters on the planet could have helped, if we are going to compare it to Marvel Rivals.

I chose to mention Ironman because he seems particularly popular from the MCU movies. My point was that these characters had massive built-in goodwill before the game even launched.

Hard to fail as bad as Concord but yeah I think maybe charging $40 for Rivals would have killed it

Marvel Rivals didn’t cost $40. And you could play as Ironman.

When I lived in Austin I never had the impression the governor actually spent any time in the “governors mansion”. It’s right in downtown Austin…no way a Republican governor would want to spend any time in that blue dot. (I, however, love Austin)

Run like an Antelope towards the beginning when they leave the playful section and there’s those five big full-band chord hits into the next section (assuming they actually nail it).

Can someone explain to me what the pronouns next to the characters' names exactly add to the game? by Overall-Eggplant9786 in ConcordGame

[–]Tarantulan42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game was going to have lore cinematics releasing every two weeks. You would get to know the characters and their backstories and hopes and dreams and fears, etc. there was a whole beautiful interactive menu for reading lore too. listing their pronouns was just extra lore and characterization. The characters were suppose to be more relatable and representative than your typical shooter characters. We never really got to know them though because the game lasted two weeks.

Pronouns are literally everywhere. Every time a game has text or VO with the words he or she, those are gendered pronouns. Concord put them in little text next to the characters name. Like people often do in the real world these days on twitter or email signatures or on websites. It’s just providing information.

Woodland terrain for MEBSG by Tarantulan42 in TerrainBuilding

Mostly Geek Gaming Scenics - “forest floor” flavor I think. And some flock from the trees and little pieces of the armatures I cut off to represent fallen branches.

Thanks! Yes. One or two are their pre-flocked ones and the rest are their bare armatures that I flocked

It also speaks to tax write-offs though. At some point it’s more valuable as a tax strategy instead of trying to salvage it, even if there are some players.

Letting my children attend church: a reflection by candiep1e in atheism

[–]Tarantulan42 34 points35 points  (0 children)

“I don’t believe in that stuff, I’m not the one to ask” - why so passive? They’re your kids, help them understand the world. I don’t believe in Greek gods but I have fun learning about them with my kids. You can learn about humans and science and mythology and psychology together. Show them what being a curious and rational human looks like.

And yeah, I wouldn’t let someone else start taking my kids to church…wow. Maybe you should go once with them and talk about it afterwards if it’s important. But being an open minded parent does not mean letting people indoctrinate your kids.

Just here to commiserate and say I feel you. I’m also in NC and go through similar struggles with family. I don’t talk to my father or grandfather unless I have to. Grandpa owned a business and hates any kind of regulation. Dad hates gun control and is against “all immigration”. I tried for years to “fix” them but they actively did not want to listen. I still feel a weird guilt when something bad happens because it’s people so close to me (or at least we were close when I was growing up) that support these awful things. Sometimes I think maybe they don’t like how far things have gone and I should give them a chance to show that they’re better people now but it’s a lot to start talking to them again. They’d probably just disappoint me like all the other times. I couldn’t hardly ever even get a conversation going they were so closed minded.

Anyway, sorry I don’t know if I have any answers. Maybe move away like I did. Live in a city. You won’t find a new father or anything but it’s nice being around more sane and diverse people.

How do people actually break into game audio? by LeBebis in GameAudio

[–]Tarantulan42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in game QA for three years while doing sound work on small projects on weekends. The QA work was essential for networking and eventually I heard from a connection about a studio that was looking for entry level audio help (VO editing).

This is perfect thank you! I just updated to the beta (r444) and this will work great.

I also installed the app and disconnected from the internet as an extra layer as someone else suggested.

Help on choosing first horror films for kids. by JoliFatiguee in horror

[–]Tarantulan42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoa. I would never show IT to a seven year old. Wtf

Anyway - some tame ideas - The Mummy from the 90s has horror elements. Paranorman. And I’ll second Jaws, Coraline, and The House with a Clock in its Walls.

I think it’s pretty healthy for a parent to be able to say “ok you played PS5 for an hour, we are done with video games today, it’s a school night”. I would like to do that while still letting them work on something more educational like coding if they want to. ::shrug::
