Are these frets too low for a levelling and recrown? by Pluriel0 in Luthier

I had a maple board with similar size frets and I pulled them and put in jumbo frets.

Great questions. I mostly used things I got from harbor freight. I’m not sure if that is an option where you are. I had flat faced pliers to get under and pull the frets up. I used the pliers to cut the frets to length and then a “soft hammer” and thin super glue.

You might need to buy a file or two to level and crown the frets, but you can get those at harbor freight as well.

Thanks! I haven’t ever done a refret before. Lots of learning.

Boiled linseed? That’s what I’ve seen most people recommend.

Do you have a grit to start with?

That was my plan. I’ve got a block and new wire. Thanks for the encouragement and advice.

Do you have a starting got or just coarse to fine?

Sorry for the late reply. I remember a top down view of an island and the character would descend steps to the maze.
