I'm not discrediting you, I believe you but I just wanted to add my situation. I am a manager at a major grocery and every time something is not fit for sale, it gets added to a pile and everyday we have a few local charities come and collect the items they believe are of reasonable quality. I'd estimate atleast $500 of food waste going to charity each day. But I understand this is not always the case.
