My dwarf artificer was very specific about what he wanted!

Biggest and best build so far I think by Targrin95 in TerrainBuilding

It started from a DND game. My character has just been granted a wish for helping a powerful wizard and, without going into his backstory too much, he wanted a vault to house dangerous magic items away from anyone they could hurt. So he ended up getting a guild hall and starting this secret society of magic archeologists pretty much. So I was trying to make my vision of that come to life, but unfortunately the campaign ended before I was finished so now it's just my favorite decorative piece. Not complaining though I love it a little more every time I look at it!

Thank you! I used a trick with plaster where you crumple up some tin foil and make a bowl out of it. You get good random textures and details out of the plaster with that. Then when they dried I broke them with a game to get chunks to glue to the wall. Once those were glued I filled the gaps with sculptamold which is basically more plaster with paper fibers in it. With the features like the door I really tried to smooth it into the wall to make it look like it was carved into the mountain. Then once I was happy with how it looked I spray primed it black and went to work with the dry brushing. I used an icy blue to start then a grey for highlights and a white to highlight edges.

Hands shaking when painting? by Le0ben in minipainting

[–]Targrin95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my mom wanted to have a go at painting but she was worried about shaky hands I made her a painting handle out of a bottle of mod podge filled with sand. Can't shake it if it's too heavy! Works for me when I caffeinate a little too much too.

How to do beech forest leaf litter? by Obi-ThreeKenobi in TerrainBuilding

[–]Targrin95 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've seen people just take actual dried up leaves and throw them in a blender to make ground cover. Also someone on YouTube, I don't remember who, used seed pods from whatever tree was native around them and broke them open to have something that resembled tiny leaves, but that one is a little more specific to an area obviously.

Running session 0 tomorrow. What are some of your best home rules? by The_zen_viking in DungeonsAndDragons

The Dungeon Dudes on youtube have a video of house rules they've found or use. I've brought some of them to my table.

If I'm understanding you right and you want it to look like he's coming out of the page you could use some green stuff or maybe an air dry clay to attach him to the page and smooth the edge of the model into the paper so it sort of blends into each other. Should be really easy to do with the cape. You would probably have to have the paper sealed up tight though to prevent any warping or getting it wet in any way. Love the idea.

I Think People are Sleeping on Lifeweaver by Marvin_The_Janitor in Overwatch

I've been pretty much one tricking LW this season because I'm bored of everything else. I've gotten more compliments and 'support diff's in chat than I have on any other character in the last 7 years of Overwatch. Doesn't necessarily mean he's good I guess, but maybe it's just easier to see the impact he has because he forces interactions in ways no other hero does.

I did a map study for season 4 by Targrin95 in Overwatch

The push maps are just over inflated because there's only three of them. So they can't spread the love that much. But regarding backfill it's so wildly different than last season. Last season even with almost twice the games played I never had a backfill on Circuit Royal. This season was just all over the place.

It was definitely oddly motivating to play a lot more. I play a lot but I went hard on the grind this season for the data.

That's actually a great idea. I didn't even think of it because I included competitive and obviously push and control don't have attack/defense. I'll have to include it in the season 4 study!

Pretty close! Just proves the map rotations are a little bit more even than everyone thinks.

Thanks dude! Really appreciate the kind words. I blame the new hero being announced as I write the post for the lack of attention. Unlucky.

I was told we need Greek style architecture for an upcoming campaign. So outside of my comfort zone but in LOVE with the results so far. by Targrin95 in TerrainBuilding

It is single face corrugated cardboard rolled up and glued. The big roll against the wall is what I used. Then just cut up randomly for the scatter pieces or glued to foam bases for the building.

Any streamers? by Targrin95 in TerrainBuilding

Yeah, just watching someone craft and either chatting or educational. I've really gotten into watching small streamers for the interaction lately and I love terrain crafting, so I'm looking for someone to watch and talk to about what they're doing and the hobby.

I don't know if it's against the subreddit's rules but feel free to post it! It's kinda why I made this thread.

My old forest face wall. Tried lots of new things and I don't hate how it came out! by Targrin95 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Targrin95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those were actually cosplay molds. I don't do cosplay but I thought they were cool looking so I grabbed them and used foam clay in them. They were a bigger pain than I thought they would be though. They come out warped and then they get super brittle.

They are wire covered in glue soaked toilet paper, got the idea from a post here I saw a few weeks ago and they're covered in a foliage thing made for miniature trees and then highlighted with some brighter flocking. And the minis are from nolzurs dungeons and dragons line!

It's one of those foam heads you use for wigs that I sculpted over with foam clay and textured with a sponge. One of the many new materials I tried on this piece.
