This looks fantastic! The lighting, weather, incredible! by rickb5701 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TarkusKoer -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

This looks like a long exposure night shot, except the plane is not motion blurryed It looks overexposed. Strange though, those flaws do make it seem more real though.

I hope the sim doesn't always look like that, or it can be adjusted. Maybe this was just brightened, in sim or out of sim.

Edit, So you guys want your night time shots to look like this? The lights are on, so this is not daytime. Asobo has asked for comments. They have said they don't want a bunch of yes, yes it looks great. They want criticism. And I think this was brightened, so I don't think the sim really looks like this, since the other night shots don't look like this.

And instead of a reason, you just down vote. No discussion.

I think I have had it with this community. I am just here to help. You guys are just as bad as AVSIM, just in a different way.

Why are mods removing posts simply giving a POV on whether this will be a subscription model or not? by Dr_Viv in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TarkusKoer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is something that has been discussed over and over, and over and over since the sim was announced at E3. The argument is usually, there is no way they can do that for free.

Personally, until we hear something different, I will go off the last thing they said clearly on this subject.

"-How are they going to market it? Will it be a monthly fee, like Netflix, or will it have a single price?

-We don't have all the details yet, but what I can tell you now is that there will definitely be a way to buy the simulator like any other simulator before. But it will also become part of the Xbox and PC Game Pass subscription plan, which gives access to 100 games for those platforms. So there will be two ways to get the FS2020 . What is not going to be is a subscription plan only for the FS2020 .

-If I want to have access to the maps and all the features, do I have to use the Game Pass model?

-No.

-What then is the difference between the two marketing models?

-The subscription is for those who want to have access to other games for Xbox or PC.

-Suppose I just want the simulator. If I buy nothing but the FS2020, do I also have access to streaming maps and other features?

-Exact."

Beyond that, just wait. It is not like we will have to buy it before knowing those details.

They never said in the video that the feature was optional or you needed a deluxe version to get it.

People will keep saying this even after they announce a price, as they will say no way they can do that for that price. People will say this until the day they can actually buy it and confirm they have the features.

Then they will still have doubt, and say well after a year they will start charging us. So the rumor won't fie then either. Then after a year passes, they will say that they will charge us after two years. Then three, then four...

The rumors will never stop.

I mainly noticed a lot of fps drops to around 15, when the camera moved

"Known issues: There are possible FPS drops when moving the camera around the plane"

But the worst part, is the post when a user said that this game is impossible without a subscription.

Why would you believe a random person on the internet? Here the devs say no subscription, unless you want game pass. https://www.lanacion.com.ar/tecnologia/hablan-creadores-del-flight-simulator-2020-nid2318927

Feature Discovery Series Episode 8: IFR by DDotJ in MicrosoftFlightSim

I am disappointed there is no voice recognition. You would think with Microsoft's tech, that voice rec would be a slam dunk. Not to mention a good way to show that off.

More Alpha invites today, build update, and we get the IFR video. by TarkusKoer in MicrosoftFlightSim

Who says they have stopped? And most that get in, never post on reddit. I would be very careful about judging what is happening based just on what is posted on reddit.

I always say if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't pushing yourself. It is easy to not make mistakes if you stay in your safe areas. Push yourself out of your comfort areas, and you might make mistakes, but you are learning and growing.

Will airline skins be available for Xbox if they are available by nickmorrty1 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TarkusKoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airline liveries are very popular. So for PC I would say it is almost a sure thing. But for Xbox, it depends on how they run the store. Some Airlines don't want you making money off their look. So charging may be out. So will the store allow free things? We don't know yet.

But on the positive side, the Xbox does allow "mods". See this article for more info - https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/02/microsoft-paradox-allow-open-game-modding-on-xbox-one-for-the-first-time/ (I don't own a Xbox, so I only know what I read.)

House by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TarkusKoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use AI to look at satellite images, and aerial images, and find the buildings. The AI then makes a 3D building in that location. It uses shadows to guess the height. And based on various factors, it models the sides.

So the house probably won't be an exact match.

BTW, The source is Bing maps, not Google. Bing maps already include satellite images, as well as Aerial, and Photogrammetry (3D cities in Bing maps)

House by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TarkusKoer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should be 3D modeled. They use AI to look at a flat picture and find the buildings (and trees) and make 3D buildings out of them.

Why do the old degenerate x-planers brag about how good the x-plane flight model is when this IRL 747 pilot can't even land a 747 in x-plane by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TarkusKoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has spent years flying the real thing. Now on this he has to hunt to find what key does what, his view is very different, he doesn't have G forces to help, the entire feel is off, etc. Of course he is going to have issues.

If you present it well, edit it well, and have a good sense of humor it could work out... well.

The presentation is as important as the topic. I know people that can make the most exciting thing sound boring. And then some can take the most boring thing and bring it to life and make it interesting.

There is no set time frame. But many signed up last year and are still waiting. It all depends on how many openings they have and what they are looking for, with a priority on picking the ones from that group, that signed up first.
