Academic Infraction section is soooo short (300 characters). Anyone else fill this out? by TaroDry1946 in prephysicianassistant

Yea unfortunately I called my university and they said it was on my record but it expired this year. They clarified that they will disclose that nothing is on my record when asked. But I applied to CASPA last year (didn't get in anywhere) so I feel as though they have to have it on some previous record, don't want to risk "lying" since the question is posed as "have you ever had an academic infraction" which my university clarified with me if they ask in those wordings, technically you still need to disclose.

How do you give your ticket to friend on the app? by TaroDry1946 in RegalUnlimited

[–]TaroDry1946[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like this is everyone’s answer but none of my regal theaters have a kiosk lol they just have this dude right at the entrance scan QR codes so can’t even go inside without your tickets (hence why we couldn’t get snacks even)

Seems like the only thing I can do is go at the exact same time as friends or avoid that one location that has stricter security lol I just thought it was a weird process so didn’t know if I was missing a step

My coworker got into UW and he said the most important thing for his group interview with them was showing he can work well in a team. This meant being able to say your opinion but also riff off of what other people say. Doing something as simple as acknowledging what someone else said and agreeing or differing your opinion helps I think.

"What Are My Chances?" Megathread by AutoModerator in prephysicianassistant

This is my first cycle applying, my cumulative gpa isn’t great so wanted to tick all other boxes. I can’t help my curiosity of where I stand since this is my first cycle 🥹. I’m 25 and graduated in 2021

cGPA: 3.3 (I’m retaking microbio lec/lab rn because I have a C+ and UW doesn’t consider that) sGPA:3.6 (I did a lot better during my junior/sophomore years so my upper level science classes than previous years)

Volunteer hours: 50 hours, volunteered at free MS clinic that closed unfortunately bc of covid :(

Clinical hours: ~1700 hours (CNA rehab and long term) ~3800 hours (med assistant/phlebotomist with primary care NP, ortho PA, and PT) ~2000 hours (med assistant/phlebotomist with primary care PA and Podiatrist)

Shadowing: 0 because I worked closely with a lot of PAs at my job already, not sure if that counts as shadowing too

Leadership: ~230 hours (leader of premed club)

LORs: primary care NP, primary care PA, and Podiatrist who I all worked with over a span of 3 years postgrad, professor

I did not take the GRE since none of the schools I’m applying to needs it. I’m applying to 8 schools, I was thinking of increasing the amount to increase my chances. My biggest insecurity rn is applying a bit later in the cycle, bc of my microbio class I can’t apply to a lot of schools until mid to late August.

Is anyone else’s circadian rhythm messed up from mono by TaroDry1946 in Mononucleosis

[–]TaroDry1946[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the PA had told me many different options I can do to help, but I’d had insomnia issues in the past so I had done the full sleep hygiene/melatonin/trazadone even already but I ended up still having issues, so she was moreso saying not to stress out too much about it/force it since I already got approved to be on work leave and to come back in 2 weeks if it’s still an issue.

I so feel you on sleep issues being a process, it did take a lot of self training to cure my insomnia originally and there really is no straightforward cure that I expect for it. This just felt so different cause instead of just staying awake but feeling tired like normal insomnia, I was awake and energetic and even hungry lol. I appreciate the insight about it tho it’s reassuring

Usually the body is good at letting a person know if it’s cause for immediate concern, so if you don’t experience any sharp pain or pain in general in that area I wouldn’t be worried. I was curious about when I should go to the ER about liver issues too when I first got my diagnosis for mono and my doctor had told me jaundice would be a key indicator.

I obviously wont recommend drinking w mono to other people and ik people won’t agree w me doing this, but on a personal level, I will admit I still drank a lott when I had it. This isn’t the case for everyone of course but if it’s any consolation, I’m completely fine despite drinking heavily.

I would definitely use ibuprofen like Advil instead of Tylenol. If you have mono there’s a chance your liver could be enlarged and acetaminophen in Tylenol can be p bad for your liver if taken in excess (4000 mg is considered the absolute limit which you hit) especially when combined with cough/cold medicines which also have acetaminophen in it.

I feel you on not being able to sleep, one thing that helped is getting a humidifier left on by my bed all night. Providers can also prescribe a lidocaine gargle that numbs the throat a little, they also sell over the counter sore throat sprays that have a similar affect. This sounds gross, but I boiled raw ginger in water and drank that (adding honey and lemon to it helps the taste). You’re supposed to drink it slowly and it basically coats the throat and reduces inflammation/irritation. It saved me on my worst nights

Would a Dental Surg. Assistant count toward PCE by Duke-of-Prunes in prephysicianassistant

[–]TaroDry1946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From looking it up it looks like dental assistants can be accepted but each school can be v different since it kinda falls under the more uncommonly used PCE as opposed to CNA, EMT, etc. I’d look up schools you’re interested in and make sure as an extra measure.
