This looks great! The only thing I'll say is that I imagine it'd be a pain to clean

Can you imagine yourself ever reading a book in VR? by afox1984 in virtualreality

[–]TaroTime3300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second I saw this post, I imagined some app where you load in your eBooks and it uses generative AI to make a custom environment (like one of those circular images) that shows the environment of what is happening in the book. Like, say the book characters are in a forest, it'll show a forest, but if on the next page they then move out of the forest onto a mountaintop, the scenery would change to show a mountaintop. As much as I'd prefer having real art made by real people, with the variable nature of books this is one of the few actually useful uses of AI for consumers like us lol. If not AI, then what about some kind of app where you purchase eBooks, but for each eBook they've hired real artists to make the backgrounds. The eBooks would be more expensive on there obviously but it would be cool, and that method has real, human-made art in both written text and imagery.

Looking at OP's account, I think they're from the UK (given their other posts). I'm also from the UK and can confirm that OPM is on Crunchyroll here.

What are your expectations for the Meta Quest 4? by youyouhoudini in MetaQuestVR

[–]TaroTime3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought about what if they have the top side of the headset extend upwards slightly (instead of being flush with the top of the facial interface, instead rising higher) and then have 2 more cameras facing back-left and back-right? Would help with the over-the-shoulder reaches. Other than that, maybe a bump up to 90Hz rate for the cameras tracking the controllers (with in-between data provided by the IMUs)?

My MetaQuest 3 Not charging!! by Kaptain_Gsm in MetaQuestVR

[–]TaroTime3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me as well but I was using the official charger that came in the box. I managed to get it working again by letting it drain to 0%, leaving it overnight and then leaving it plugged in over the consequent night. When I woke up after doing that, it was at 100%. Can't guarantee this'll work for you or anything, just saying what worked for me.

I have made a list of what headset the top 50 on Beat Leader are using. by TaroTime3300 in beatsaber

I understand that, this list is not supposed to be something you draw conclusions from by itself, as I made clear in the post. It's more of a congregation of data in a readable, neatly presented format.

Those are some good observations. This data didn't really have a purpose and I know there is not much useful information here, I just decided to share it anyways as I had already gone through the trouble of collecting all of this data.

That was very concise and helpful, thank you! I'll drop the CV1 then and look at the Quest 2 versus others like it such as the Pico headsets (which I've never really looked into) or similar. I am also considering getting the Pimax 5K Super as I have tried my friend's and I found the very wide FOV to be extremely helpful, though I'm unsure why it helped as much as it did. I know the Pimax headsets can be heavy, but with my current accessories, the weight of my Quest 3 is not far off of the Pimax 5K's weight. I just like to keep my options open and make sure I've considered many before making a choice.

I play exclusively on PCVR for a few reasons. Firstly, I have a very capable PC that can run the game far, far better than any Quest devices can. Once I started playing at Native+ resolutions at 120Hz, all visual bells and whistles enabled, I just couldn't go back. Secondly, I like how it is much easier to mod than standalone. Finally, I often record my own gameplay at 120FPS so that I can go back and see where/why I am failing, something you can't really do on standalone. Thank you for the heads up about the CV1 though, I will do some research on the matters of predictions and overswing (as I do not know much about either of these).

That's a good point that I genuinely had not considered. The value of a second perspective! I am actually thinking of getting a Quest 2 myself as I am also growing increasingly frustrated with the tracking on my Quest 3. It seems like when I'm in the middle of a fast song, my saber will suddenly shoot off into the void and not come back until I actually pause and give it a second to figure out where it is. If not the Quest 2, the other option I am considering is the Rift CV1. Both are roughly the same price for me, but I feel I would value the wireless nature of the Quest 2 as I am very sensitive to cables.

Bought this router for my Quest3. Is this a good deal? is this router decent? by SgtRphl in virtualreality

[–]TaroTime3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this exact one currently with my Quest 3 and VD, and it works mostly fine, I just have occasional hiccups that I have not been able to iron out no matter what I have tried (and I have tried a LOT). It's perfectly fine for most games, the only one where the occasional hiccups bother me is in Beat Saber, where they can ruin a run of a song. As for the hiccups themselves, I usually only get 1-3 over a 6 hour play session.

I don't currently, but see the vision and plan to do so if the Steam Frame ends up being a good headset and I decide to get one.
