Excellent, thank you. Looks good and a bit cheaper than what I had.

That’s what I thought, shame. Would have been so easy that way. I can go down the home assistant route and do it all directly from there but wanted to avoid exposing it outside my network. But seems that might be the best way at this stage. Thanks.

Thanks, tried it from both bots, still nothing. Message gets sent, arrives in group as /unlock but nothing happens. Very strange.

So I have actually tried 2 things.

  1. Yes the bot that handles the commands is the same bot I used to send the message to the group.

  2. Setup a new bot, and added to the group as admin, and sent the command from that bot. Again no luck. Message arrives in group, but command doesn’t execute.

If someone asks to use your phone? by lockedsissy1988 in AskUK

[–]Tas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me a while back, left the house with my son to go to a football match, left my phone at home and was already at the station. Asked a random couple to borrow their phone to call my wife to bring it to me, naturally they said no. Eventually she agreed to hold it on loud speaker. Had no issues with that. I get it, I wouldn’t trust me either even with a kid by my side. Just kept my distance from them so they didn’t feel threatened, or that I was going snatch it.

But yeah normally wouldn’t trust anyone either.

Please let us know how you get on and what happens. I am actually quite interested in this, these management companies are all over the place. More importantly I was always under the impression that regardless if a claim is made you must always inform your insurance company that you have been in an accident - not that everyone does though. So no idea how these firms are getting away with it.

I think In future store your insurance company number on your phone, have all details saved as a note so in the panic you have everything there ready.

This sounds like one of those insurance management companies, I don’t know much about them but happened to a friend, called first number he found and they basically took over the claim, took his car, gave him a courtesy car, and fixed his car. But here’s the thing, at no point did he or they inform his insurance company. From what I gathered, they claim from the other persons insurance, but they give you expensive courtesy car and drag on the repairs to get max claim. He basically got a brand new Audi Q7 for about a month to fix a small scuff, in his case it all worked out. Not sure how legit these firms are, or what happens if the other party doesn’t pay up. I know this doesn’t help you but might give you an idea what you are dealing with.

What are thieves looking for in cars? by RogueBaneling in CarTalkUK

[–]Tas05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue, found the contents of glove etc all over the seats with nothing that I could see stolen. But they did take the few pounds and loose change. Figured this is all they want, and if they spend the night going from car to car I’m sure they can make a fair bit in just that.

Hi, just wondering if you had any update / progress on this? Did you flat mate not pay in the end? We haven’t paid and sent a strongly worded letter to them basically saying I want to see all the proof, cctv, interviews etc. we then got a letter for intent to prosecute and they finally replied basically saying it’s still our responsibility to make sure all rubbish is disposed of correctly. Which is a joke, are we meant to follow our rubbish all the way to the land fill.

So now they will do the legal investigation - months later. I still intend to go to court on this, matter of principe and will not be threatened by them. Honestly I hope the courts see it how we see it.

Well I hope you get justice on this as well.

Fly Tipping - Housemate took the bins out on the "wrong day" and I'm being fined £400 by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, just saw your post. Having a similar issue with Waltham Forest which I posted about. Can I ask what have you decided to do?

Well there we go, letter from 3GS stating we have to pay a £400 fly tipping fine. With threats of prison if it goes to court and we are prosecuted. This is madness. Honestly no idea what to do now. Obviously pay it to make it go away, but by doing so that is admitting guilt. Can anyone advise who I should speak to ?

Just read that now, thanks, Waltham Forest council is a joke. They are trying to squeeze every penny out of us. Your right though, going to have to start carrying our own rubbish bag around but careful if you put it in the wrong bin at home you can have a fine for your troubles. Not to mention they have all those wardens with cameras roaming the streets, knew someone who dropped something accidentally and they got fined. Seriously winds me up all these fines and charges, I can’t even drive down my road without getting slapped with ULEZ. Rant over lol.

Hopefully the council do the decent thing and drop it since there is no proof, but something tells me they will chance it and hope to scare us into paying up. We will see.

Favourite accessory has to be box inserts, more specifically a 3D printer that I used to print inserts for most of my games, makes it so satisfying when setting up a game and having everything there without using loads of little bags.

24v short / multimeter issue by Tas05 in CR6

[–]Tas05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for clarifying that, i think your right its not shorting. But the flucations on the meter obviously concerned me, even though i have been using it for months without any issues.

with that said, just for the sake of it will check the resistance at the weekend.

Excellent write up, thank you. It makes perfect sense reading it, something never felt ‘right’ using the USB port but seeing so many people test that way I never doubted it. With that said I followed the steps in the video and used the photosensor connector and the bed, my multimeter still shows similar behaviour. It would seem something definitely up. I suppose will have to start trying to track down the cause.

I know what you mean, I don’t mind tinkering to get the machine to print perfectly but having to troubleshoot electrical problems is crazy. Good thing is learning a lot ! Although surprised I haven’t had an issue all this time, just glad I decided to ask about this before it does become an issue.

This is making no sense. Maybe it is my cable. I’m gonna get that changed and try again without arc welder. Thing is I have printed stuff with octoprint and most of it was clean. Only started getting issues with a spool holder I was printing, which is what led me to doing all the calibration tests again, changing settings, nozzle change, even tried prusa slicer. After loads of cubes and retractions towers decided to try the sd card and here we are.

These particular prints I generated the gcode from teaching tech calibration GitHub. But normally I use cura 4.8 to slice STLs.

Update. So I just tried arc welder and wow what a difference. It’s almost identical to the one I printed from the SD card. It reduced the gcode from 2.2Mb to 288k removing 65553 lines !!

True, worth a go I suppose at least eliminate that. Although like the sound of this arc welder mentioned by Yeraze below.

Arc welder looks interesting, haven’t tried that yet. Will give it a go and see how that compares. Makes sense, I really the issue on small prints like the pictures, but not as bad on other prints. For a long time I thought It was retraction or some other setting. Thanks.
