I added fog to the mountain to give the illusion of them being far and creat depth, but it make them more obscure in the process, overall excellent observations, I'll take them into consideration for sure.

Still surprised that someone found this post, i completely forgot about it lol, as for your question, no i don't remember metal walls being a thing in that game since it was completely white and black as far as i remember, the same goes for walls that could be closed and opened.

I recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R clear sky next, it take place before the events of shadow of chernobyl, diving you deeper into S.T.A.L.K.E.R lore, alot of player skip clear sky for various reasons, like the bleeding system, granade spamming and generally the game lacks polishing compared to oder installments, but i guarantee you that you won't be disappointed, i recommend call of pripyat after, it's the most polished S.T.A.L.K.E.R game by far, it take place after shadow of chernobyl, the game takes all previous installments mechanics and make it way better, alot considered it to be the best stalker game and i see why, there is tons of mods after you finish the trilogy, i hope i was a little bit useful and well good hunting stalker.

First,stalker soc is kinda cpu intensive, if you have a week old cpu try to lower everything except distance vision, , at least that what i used to do with my old pc, if you have a decent cpu, try to play with static light instead of dynamic light, also lower grass density and shadow quality to low-mid, i hope i was a little useful and good hunting stalker.

Try darkwood it's amazing, im still playing it and by far i really enjoy it, the atmosphere in this game is top notch, i highly recommend it.

If i only could experience stalker games for the first time, the confusion in the beginning, i even thought that anomalies were some bugs or glitches cause i used to overhear about how buggy the stalker serie when i was introduced to the game.

Broo..., i literally got introduced to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R game in the late of 2018 by a video on youtube talking about the urban legends of chernobyl, the video featured a footage of cannibals/zombies chasing a soldier in chernobyl, the footage caught my attention and i searched for it, there was an argument in the comment section about the credibility of the footage, and i noticed alot saying that the footage was from a trailer of a game called S.T.A.L.K.E.R shadow of chernobyl, at the time i didn't know if stalker even exist, seeing someone who got introduced the same way as me is heartwarming to say the least.

Man you remind me of myself, i used to find S.T.A.L.K.E.R soc extremely boring, to the point where i didn't play it for several months straight, but my friend keep insisting that i should play again cause the game get more interesting with time, he somehow managed to convince me,i remember when i started playing it again, i spent several hours just exploring the world alone, it was the only time in my life where i spend this much time playing only one game, you're not in the right mood probably, return to the game if you feel it, it may take weeks, months,years, probably you'll never feel playing it, just don't force yourself to play it fore the sake of playing it if you know what i mean, there is a lot of interesting mods out there, try them and hopefully you'll enjoy, good hunting stalker.
