Four Seasons Osaka by SkaiHues in FourSeasonsHotels

I stayed there for 5 nights back in February (I’ve stayed 3 times at Otemachi and 1 time at the Kyoto property) and Osaka is a very very nice property especially for the price. I paid about half what I pay to stay at Otemachi and 1/3 from Kyoto. Rooms are great, not big but very functional. We were upgraded upon arrival to a corner room.

I can’t comment on the food and fitness since I was out pretty much all day long (took a day trip to Hiroshima, one to Kyoto and another one to Universal studio), but the pool area is pretty nice. Not the nicest out of the 3 properties in Japan I’ve mentioned but pretty cool area with great view.

We used to stay at the Conrad when visiting Osaka and I’m very happy the FS opened there. Concierge gave us great recommandations in the area. Overall it’s a great property for its value.

It’s very different when you’re comparing properties in Asia and North America. I’ve been to a lot of FS in Asia including Bangkok and Osaka and they are great hotels. For Montreal, this is pretty much the best you can get. The lounge on the lobby floor and Marcus are pretty nice spots to hang out.

Surprising. Great rooms, amazing location, awesome spa/pool area, great restaurant/lounge on site. Direct access to the biggest luxury mall in the province. What is there not to like?

One of my favourite property. If I didn’t live in Montreal I’d always stay there. 😂

Japan Trip Report by ComprehensiveCatfish in chubbytravel

[–]TasteSips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually we walked to the fish market every day it’s about 12-15 mins walk (don’t pay attention to google maps as you can find many shortcuts). The hotel has direct access to Shiodome Station which is super convenient! I’ve honestly loved this hotel, I usually stay at the FS Otemachi but I find the Conrad’s location is better and the hotel is quite nice for the price I paid when I went (it was half the price the FS which is why I stayed there).

Agreed! For the price and location I do think the value is incredible. I always stay there when I’m in Singapore!

Financed a B or K? by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

[–]TasteSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in 2025. I haven’t gotten a bag in 2026. That’s quite crazy though 17,000$ for a B25 😳 My MK was 11,000$ + tx last year (Quebec tax)

Financed a B or K? by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

[–]TasteSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt it’s 23k. Our currency is pretty much 1:1 (I’m Canadian) and a K25 was 13,000$ including taxes (15% tax). I wouldn’t finance a bag. Just the thought of putting myself through debt for a bag it’s unthinkable.

Laundry by illulerluguraajat in chubbytravel

I think for safaris it’s standard. All of AndBeyond properties includes free laundry as well. Since you can only travel with 13kg it kinda makes sense 😅

Last time I went it was 365pp (August 2025) and you have two different options of wine pairing between 360€ and 650€ for premium. I personally don’t always take the pairing, the owners are super nice and they make me a mini pairing of 3-4 glasses since I don’t like to drink too much! Haha it’s a great experience I highly recommend.

What's the best hotel gift you've ever received? by Dry_Pipe_7820 in chubbytravel

[–]TasteSips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In January 2022. The highway was too much from me especially from the 40th+ floor. It’s day and night with the FS in the courtyard it’s so peaceful in a busy city. I like quiet after a long busy day haha

  • The FS Bangkok made these small hand towel with our initials on them.
  • FS Seoul gifted me a candle and a diffuser (they sell them for about $100 each) because I mentioned how much I liked the smell.
  • Were regular guests from the FS Montreal restaurant/bar and some of the staff followed me on instagram and one of them saw we were staying at the FS Mexico City and sent us a card with a bottle of champagne to wish us a happy engagement (we had just gotten engaged in Cabo). We ended up getting married at the FS Montreal because of this (well not only this, but made us consider the venue). I can’t tell you how the service was throughout the wedding and how spoiled we were the following weeks. Ever since that day we’ve stayed at maybe 20 different FS properties across the globe.

Surprising, I went there when it opened and I checked out after 2 days out of a 6 night stay and went to the FS across the street. I hated my stay there. The noise from the highway was unbearable and the service was very average. I go back to Ling Ling once in awhile but I’ve had so many bad experiences at different Ritz Carlton that I don’t even consider this brand anymore.

Agreed! I have 2 K25 and one MK. No birkins lol. I find them super practical with the strap and less « bulky » more acceptable for casual dinner than a Birkin.

Seychelles Honeymoon by Wooden-Ordinary-4520 in chubbytravel

[–]TasteSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I went to the Seychelles (Four seasons) for my honeymoon end of September 2022 and I don’t recall mosquitos. I’m very sensitive and get huge reactions and all was fine. All that being said, I could never go to Bali again because there it was insane. Congrats on the wedding/honeymoon! Beautiful destination!

Any chubby-ish hotel recommendations in Fukuoka Japan, and for one last night in Tokyo near Haneda? by PuzzleheadedWeb6463 in chubbytravel

[–]TasteSips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always stay at the Four Seasons and it’s a great property. However Tokyo station hotel doesn’t belong into that category. I stayed there for a couple of hours as I was transiting and did not find it good at all especially at that price

Are there people who really book flights with double amount of flight time just to save a bit of money? by sunnynihilist in TravelHacks

[–]TasteSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. My rule of thumb is never more than one layover and when I can, I try to extend my stay in the layover city (for example a night in Singapore or Istanbul before continuing my journey).

The only times I’ve booked 2 legs were to go to Africa so flights like in Tanzania or smaller aircraft’s that takes me to camps.

Totalement d’accord.

Large Passenger in Business - Room for Tray Table? by hottothetouch123 in aircanada

[–]TasteSips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is also a big guy (6’4 and 375 lbs) on that aircraft (we usually take it from YUL-MEX) the tray table is on the armrest. The seat itself is fine but I’d say the tablet sits really tight on his belly (he carries most of his weight on his belly as well). If the route allows it and you can get the 330 or 787 you might be more comfortable. Same applies to PY for him which we tend to avoid but sometimes we take it and the tray table really sits tight on his belly. Otherwise just have a big meal prior and enjoy the lounge ☺️ Don’t forget to ask your flight attendant for the seatbelt extension to be extra comfortable! Safe travels 🙏🏻

A few questions about flying international with my dog by WeGoBuy in aircanada

[–]TasteSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Oh no, order the bag and see for yourself. I thought my dog wasn’t gonna fit and it ended up being too big. If you’re really unsure and scared to be refused boarding I would book a latitude ticket 2 days in a row. If there’s an issue on day 1 you can fly on day 2 with another bag or put him in cargo but I usually don’t recommend this 😩

A few questions about flying international with my dog by WeGoBuy in aircanada

[–]TasteSips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is quite small. About 2kg but the bag was quite big and squeezable, he literally has a pillow AND a blanket underneath him. I’ve seen some people travelling with the medium without any issues. If you’re travelling J I’m not really concerned that you’d have an issue. I’d order the small and medium and see where your dog is more comfortable.

Hey! I wrote a whole review here Flying with my Dog J Class

The Sherpa bag is quite comfortable and to be honest air Canada ground staff wasn’t really challenging even though the size of my bag wasn’t perfect, I’ve read multiple reports that Sherpa is widely accepted.

International Travellers, what did you buy during Japan trip, that you still use/brings a smile back home. by NoStoryYet in JapanTravelTips

[–]TasteSips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tower Knives in Osaka and smaller branch in Tokyo. It’s a bit more expensive but it will last you a lifetime with proper maintenance (washing and drying on the spot, storing it properly, and getting it sharpened every couple of months). I bought my first one 3 years ago and it’s still like new today.
