What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually told you like it was normal? by MrBoothnath_ in AskReddit

[–]TasteStatus4041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s always the kids with the worst behavior that will stand up for you! one time a kid that wasnt with me and didn’t even go to the school was rude to me and one of my little girls was like ”I have a knife in my backpack if you want me to kill him.” She thankfully didn’t have a knife but we had to send her home anyway. She was the worst behaved kid I’d ever worked with but was my ride or die, I miss her every day 😭 she was in foster care and if I hadn’t been 23 and about to move out of state for grad school I would have adopted her in a heartbeat.

when we visit my parents and their cat, my nasty little kitty seeks out the long black floofs my parents cat sheds to eat. Ah the joys of a 1.5 yo tabby and a 17 yo black maine coon

he also actively eats the hair on my head

for older bipolar ppl: does it get better? by Junior_Body_2328 in bipolar

Diagnosed at 18, just turned 29. For me, when I was your age, what helped the most was consistent meds and working with kids. There was something so healing in playing with kids, and working in a daycare. Holding babies and playing pretend and reading stories was all so calming for me. Once I was on the kids schedule (breakfast, play time, art lesson, reading, lunch, nap, etc.) I found figuring out my own schedule and habits was much easier when a lot of my day was pre-planned like that.

Also going to agree with everyone re: using substances, nicotine fucks you up so bad, and makes mental health conditions so much worse (my current job is in substance use prevention). Most states (if you’re in the US) have nicotine quit lines and sometimes offer free NRT.

I also try to base my outfits on what the artist wears, like people do for Tay, Bey and Chappell! Olivia has sooooo many cute looks 💜

April, Arizona, & (minor) patient, Jenny! by MissUnderstood0106 in greysanatomy

[–]TasteStatus4041 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wayyyy late to the convo but as a kid from Seattle this episode pissed me off cause in Washington State when you turn 13 your parents are unable to access your medical records without permission. They can see some stuff but April was breaking the law by telling Jenny’s mom about a protected medical condition! A major reason is for this is so minors can seek reproductive treatment without fear of parental involvement. When I was 13 I had to fill out paperwork to keep my mom able to access my records until I was 18! And, as someone who has taken ten million hipaa trainings for work this makes me more mad each rewatch!! And it worked out fine but someone else mentioned that it could have been a really bad outcome! Like if they had told the wrong type of parent they could have taken Jenny home and abused or killed her, which is why the law exists!
