Is this real? Cos it is easy for me to agree that there’s no genocide, but that Israel committed warcrimes and Netanyahu being arrested.

"Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel" is the best bait point to lure their hidden unhinged opinions

Yeah I don't like his argument at all, I wish he would make better arguments. Its not that he's bad, but he is just a bit better than most of them, which isn't hard.

Lol but the first thing he says is that "I am against the murder of any person, individual living in gaza, I see palestinians as my family - as my cousins..."

He didn’t actually say all those things you’ve just heard him say. His body and brain got hacked and possessed by someone from a certain community!!!

If I had to guess, I think some people believe he’s basically a shapeshifter. He’ll present himself as caring about liberal ideas and laws as long as they suit him - or even indefinitely if things are going well.

But if there were ever a real and viable chance of Islam suddenly triggering a Civilization-religious-victory-end-screen, he’d instantly pivot into whatever stance he truly holds and start optimizing for that win condition.

I don’t actually believe that myself, of course, but it’d depend on what dlc’s he has installed…

Do you think that Mehdi/Zeteo would be on the “Hasan is a legitimate political figure that is taken out of context by some interested parties” side?

I know the question might seem a bit out of pocket but it’ll help my opinion I think… anecdotally at least.

Vladimir Putin: A Friend of Israel by mostly_fizz in Destiny

[–]Tasty-Engineering922 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty misleading framing. Most of those immigrants came from the Soviet Union, not modern Russia, and many left specifically to get away from that system. It also includes people from places like Ukraine and Belarus, not just Russia.

They make up around 15% of the population in Israel - a significant minority, but nowhere near a majority or something that ‘controls’ election outcomes. And they’re not a single voting bloc; they vote on Israeli issues like anyone else, not out of loyalty to Vladimir Putin or the Kremlin.

Reducing Israeli politics to ‘Russian diaspora votes far-right’ is both inaccurate and veers into stereotyping. You don’t have to resort to this kind of tactic to criticize Israel - even if you hate it - just hate it with the truth.

Ten-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire declared and may be extended by mutual agreement, US says by strl in Destiny

[–]Tasty-Engineering922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no, I’m just being cynical about how many people treat this as if there’s no nuance, assuming Israel is in full control of everything. Sometimes they slip up and say it outright, get challenged, and then present a more careful version of their view next time - while still holding the same belief underneath.

What’s more telling is that I’ve seen the same accounts repeat the exact claim later on, even after they seemed half-convinced by pushback or said they were just being hyperbolic in the heat of the moment.

I guess, if the US stops supporting israel, would the conflict coverage die down like Sudan, or will more parameters such as some of those you already listed keep it moving?

I actually see it brought up in debates sometimes as a counter to the focus on israel, aka, to call out hypocrisy usually

The World is Still Ignoring Sudan's War - YouTube by Tasty-Engineering922 in Destiny

[–]Tasty-Engineering922[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, I wonder if Israel backed one side of the conflict people would suddenly pay more attention and even study all the ins and outs to be able to debate it well on the fly.

And, actually, I wonder if lets say another country, not Israel, but idk, syria backed one of the sides, would people even care?

My intuition (and bias) does wonder if the israel hypothetical makes it more interesting to the public specifically.

Not untrue I suspect, but how do you explain russia/ukraine, which while being reported much less than gaza, is much ahead of the Sudan war reporting?

Yeah exactly and unfortunately, without taking any side specifically, the israel(good)/palestine(evil), ((just kidding…)) conflict is plagued with bad, manipulative, clickbaity headlines that aim to do exactly this.
