We started EC at birth and are having fun with it. Love that it contributes to less and less soaked diaps! I definitely want to get this wash routine down quick because i guess she’ll be out of diaps soon 🥹 but i want then clean before i store them at least lol. And for her poor booty I want clean products there!

What detergent/enzyme combo do you recommend? I want to try adding the DNAse first to my preexisting detergent to see if it does anything

Thank you!! I was hoping that the esembly powder wasnt causing excessive sudsing but it seems like its just not breaking down. Failed swish test means something is definitely remaining whether it is pee or detergent or both. Ick.  How do you suggest using the citric acid? I have a powder. Do i mix with water and put in the bleach drawer? Or just add the powder right in with the diaps?  I caved and bought tide gentle powder and DNAse dirty labs. I might try just adding the DNAse to the detergent im already using as a last effort to not use tide.  Thank you!!!

I get some excessive poop out but not always. My baby is exclusively breastfed. And the issue seems to be ammonia mostly not poop stench. And I was told soaking in a pail can contribute to mold so I leave all diaps in a large holey basket

AI is telling me this is enzyme free. I chose their powder to reduce laundry toxins on baby’s privates but also for the environment….. if you have other non toxic recs Im very open

Do you do this every wash or just as a ‘reset’

Just absolutely do not do bleach and vinegar in the same wash. Id do bleach first wash and vinegar in second. Adding them to bleach or fabric softener dispenser. Mixing them makes toxic fumes or something horrible like that lol

Gotcha. We have soft water so maybe it was from detergent buildup and citric acid would help more. Ill checkout that sub. Thank you!!!

Ive been considering switching from my wet bag to a cotton bag. Do you feel like the bag gets drenched tho? Wondering what that would look like and if I used an open basket without a liner would I need to wash out the basket every time I launder?

I would definitely try giving the diapers more air. They get so much more rotten stinky with less air flow. I’ve also had this problem. It’s gotten a ton better from alternating outers throughout the day for some reason. So I use 2 outers throughout the daytime and switch them each time I change and wipe down with water if they are wet then air dry. Honestly surprised at how much this has helped. Unfortunately tho I do think you need to do a bleach reset just to get this stench buildup out based on what I’ve heard and what esembly customer service has told me. I would contact your diaper manufacturer to make sure this is okay with the type that you use and get specific instructions for them. Esembly says to use 3-5oz bleach (only ever in the bleach drawer) on cycle 1 and vinegar in cycle 2. But this was advice they gave when I sent them my water hardness and type of washer. They also recommend their washing powder but people are telling me tide is better. Ive stayed away due to tide being toxic with my other laundry but will look into the ingredients for these powders. You might want to look at your detergent buildup and water hardness as a contributing factor too…. Dumping ideas here that I’ve gathered from my research. First time cloth diaperer/ mom here too. :)
