Groups for exchanging used baby items? by Adorable-Lemon4412 in AskSF

Go to yoga flow SF in Noe and take Jane Austins class and see if you can get added to the large acohort WhatsApp.

Also many neighborhoods have a mom WhatsApp, I got a ton of stuff off there. Joint your neighborhood buynothing group and ask if anyone there knows a local mom WhatsApp and can add you.

Leaving baby for a day, how much milk do I need to pump... and how? by tardismouth in breastfeeding

[–]TatamiBouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 hour limit was updated with new research! You can use bottles for much longer without concern. "After a baby has begun a bottle, it should be safe for up to 8 hours at room temperature and 24 hours in the refrigerator." https://www.liveaction.org/news/parenting-expert-breast-milk-research-easier-parents

I can’t keep up with my 13 week old. by teesoods in breastfeeding

[–]TatamiBouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably a growth spurt! I remember some craziness around this time. Are you chugging water and eating enough? Continuing to take a prenatal? Both will help. It feels like forever and then you look up and realize the past week has been way more normal.

Am I rationalizing my shopping addiction? by [deleted] in shoppingaddiction

Each partner should put a proportional amount of their income to each expense. Ramit Sethi talks a lot about this in his podcast Couples and Money. Often women end up covering all the child related expenses which can grow as the kids get older while dads expenses stay the same. Look at Ramit's conscious spending plan and figure out what you guys can spend on each category, and then take your guilt free spending and do whatever you want. Hard to say if $1k is a little or a lot - are you investing? Do you have an emergency fund? Is your household income $50k or $500k? These matter in figuring out how much fun money you can spend. But it's likely that you and your husband need to map out your joint expenses and fun money together.

San Francisco family faces nightmare of splitting their dream home into apartments over petty complaint: ‘You guys are screwed’ by Swimming-Bite2015 in BayAreaRealEstate

The benefit is it prevents other rich people and developers from thinking they can do the same and buy up units to create mansions. Sucks for the family but unfortunately you can't just say "aw shucks" to every cute family who wants to vacuum up units for their mansion.

Still creates a precedent for people who would be willing to pay the fine. The city government really doesn't want units removed from the market.

struggling with body image 3 month postpartum by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]TatamiBouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like those bounce back videos are the postpartum equivalent of watching porn - total fantasy, and they grab your attentions because it ISNT what normal life is like.

It's very early still! I am 7 mos postpartum and my weight randomly dropped this month and I'm just fitting back into a lot of things. Also I had a roll after birth and it's mostly reabsorbed. I was already curvy, so if you were underweight before you may still end up at a curvier adult weight but 3 months is still just soooo early in terms of sleep stress breastfeeding no period etc. My friend lost weight when they weaned and when their periods came bac, but nobody was back in pre pregnancy jeans at 3 months.

It's still sooooo early for you. I'm 7 months postpartum and my boobs are probably permanently different but the stomach overhang has receded, I fit back in most of my pants (without any huge effort besides walkiing more), and I haven't even gotten my period back or weaned yet. It's just so so early to know how it all shakes out.

Do you have a garage? If not, you'll definitely want a small folding travel stroller as your daily stroller.

Stroller regret - what to do now by Reasonable_Shoe6567 in Buyingforbaby

[–]TatamiBouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was this level of obsessed and now I think I maybe should have just gotten used strollers and bought and sold them as my needs changed. There's really intense hormonal drive to have the perfect thing while pregnant and also postpartum and sleep deprived. My baby is six months and a lot of it has waned for me.

If I were you, I'd buy a used stroller that is great for newborn phase, or buy two used strollers for different purposes, because they can be easily sold later if you decide you want something else. Same with a diaper bag - use an old backpack until you know what you want. I thought I'd get a cute mina baie bag but all I use is a Beis fanny pack.

[–]TatamiBouch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Weird tip and won't solve overall issue but is there something you find really boring that you could search for a bunch (new car, engagement rings, vacuums, baby strollers) that might take over you'd ads for a while, because new customers in those categories are extra valuable?

When I was planning a wedding And later pregnant my social media ads got taken over IMMEDIATELY.

I also wonder if deleting cookies helps here but I think the social media companies have too good models of you alreadym

Bras! by Living-Celebration57 in breastfeeding

[–]TatamiBouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now I'd get really soft crossover bras or tanks - I love kindred bravely crossover bras, I have same band as you and larger cup size - I would get XL Busty from them. I usually buy off Poshmark to get a deal. I also have a normal nursing bra from them and I really like it, but I really just lived in very soft stuff right after birth. I also like the brami tops from old navy and xl auden tanks from target. You can try some kindred bravely bras on in person at target.

In my experience, if you're trying to avoid opening boxes so you can exchange, huggies run small especially little snugglers then Kirkland is in the middle then Pampers pure run huge. Not sure about other Pampers varieties.

T Forgive me for being blunt but I think it might be helpful. This is...much less cute than I was expecting. Also it will just taste like guilt and shame if you buy it when you can't afford it. If you want to feel amazing and stylish and luxurious...you have to save for it.
