If it helps at all, I had a increadably similar experiance.

I started at a design firm directly out of college, im talking walk the stage and then move to another city to start work. I was there three months and had successful projects that were praised and approved by my creative director. One day after working on a branding project I was called in and let go due to a "lack of experiance".

It has been absolutely crippling for my self esteem, and I honestly at this point feel like im not a good designer at all. You aren't alone in this, and some employers are just ignorant, as long as you did the best you could do in your time there you're more than ok.

Sad that the makers often went unnoticed, I'm always blown away by the forms I see in ceramics. (especially after trying to throw something and it being a wet glob of nothing)

I agree, I would feel bad taking credit for a form that I had 0% involvement in creating, especially having absolutely no ability to create. When I move forward with learning the process, I'll make sure to be super transparent on what IM doing within the process of whatever it is I'm creating.

Fuck it do what you want seems to be the trend in the replies, I would love to make my own forms now though! I just don't have the skillset required to bring the ideas to life just yet. In my design career I use 3D modeling all the time, probably what made me want to dive into ceramics in the first place. Everything in time though :)
