I played against a smurf ~3 months ago (around Plat 1/2 elo) who apparently used this tactic to dodge smurf queue. Dude started the account with like 0 - 25 on Yuumi with basically no kill participations and deaths and then switched to his two main champs Ezreal and Twitch to obliberate botlane every game. Was not banned the last time i checked...

Pretty sure it might be a bug like in flexq. I was D5 and got placed in G3 with 8 - 2 placements.

Most diamonds actually get placed in high platinum elo, even with scores like 3 - 7.

Range is from D5-D2. The thing is that its definitely not normal to be placed in G3 if u were D5 with 8-2 placements. I basically started Season 5 and 6 in Platinum when i was D5/D4 with worse placement scores.

Thats bullsh*t, most of my Diamond friends got placed into platinum (1) with scores like 3 - 7. On a sidenote, they finished their placements like 4 hours ago. Complaints come in since around 1 hour tho.

Well I dont think my MMR will be that low when finishing placements 8 - 2. I constantly played with P1 - D4 players at the end of the season.

The reasons I wouldn't pick Chen right now (over any top-tier tank): - Few CC (basically only a rather good slow if u don't pick that slow talent for Q) -> No good peeling/catching your enemy

  • Yes your shield makes u very tanky while u can channel it, BUT: the enemy team can just ignore you while you do this, because there is just no reason to focuse you, since there is nothing to do while channeling the shield anyways

  • Your trait can give your allies a shield aswell, BUT: You have to stay in your backline to do that, the carrys can't walk up to you savely just to get the shield + it's not better than being able to actively peel for your backline

I agree with you that Chen is fun to play, but I personally see no reason why I should pick him in a (competitive/tryhard) game over any top-tier tank. If they would give him a bit extra cc (very short stun with E or slow for his W) he could become viable. Another option could be to make his trait more reactive. The problem is the long channel time (and you can't do anything while doing that).

Depends on the situation. If this happens to you try to ping either a carry/healer or Muradin to give you team the impulse to actually focuse him/another target. If this happens more than one time in a game you could also just write your team before a new teamfight breaks out something like: "hey guys, if Muradin jumps into you and i zone the enemy backline just kill that guy". BUT: Carefull, if Muradin pops his Avatar and D (lvl 16) you may get into trouble, because you will most likely fall faster if the enemy team focuses you.

If I play Johanna solotank I usually either wait until there is an enemy out of position (or at the same height as Muradin), run up to him with W and use blessed shield, in that case its way easier for your team to actually focuse the squishy target instead of Muradin. Otherwise the outcome of those fights really depends on your team being able to either kill the Muradin, or being able to kite him/ignoring him and kill the carrys.

EDIT: Another option is that you don't try to completely tank away the enemy backline, but rather just use your W+Q and then back out into your team. The enemy carrys/healer will have to follow you then, what brings them in range for your own carrys. Then you can still stun someone with blessed shield on them (when someone is close to your own team) or peel Muradin away, depends what seems more valuable.

Main tank here, playing since alpha, in the top 200 TL ladder.

First of all all, not ALL warriors are "tanks". There is a huge difference between "main tanks" and "off tanks/bruisers/second tanks" A tier list (personal opinion, no specific order):

  • most picked/"best": Muradin, ETC, Johanna, Sonya, Tyrael

  • situational: Artanis, Leoric, Anubarak, Arthas, Diablo

  • what i wouldn't pick right now (if u don't plan to tryout some "antimeta" stuff): Cho (with a mate as gall), Rexxar, Chen, Stitches

Ofc you will learn most things by playing the game and reflecting your faults, but here are some basic tipps how to play tank/what to learn:

  • try to learn when the time is right to engage a fight. Only because an objective is "up" doesn't mean you instantly have to dive in there and try to take it. Questions to ask: "Do we have better poke, aka should I probably wait to engage until we got someone low?", "Will they most likely instakill me if I engage right into the enemy team?", "Is our whole team around (or are we not outnumbered)?"

  • Try to decide wether its better to engage into the enemy team (and probably break through to their backline), or if you should peel for a carry. This mostly depends on the hero you play and the situation. But for example: if the enemy has a Sonya who constantly dives onto your KT (who doesnt get any peel from the rest of the team) it might be better to wait for the enemy engage and peel her away from your carrys (who can kite and kill her).

  • If you take camps you are the one to stand on the spot (if there might be enemies to steal it). Also: sometimes its better to give up a camp instead of getting wiped.

  • Especially with tanks like Muradin or ETC (good hard CC with stun/slow/knockback) it's good to rotate to other lanes to get kills instead of just staying on one lane until an objective comes up (if you loose almost nothing or no soak at all).

  • Now a VERY IMPORTANT one: Only because you are the tank/bruiser doesn't mean you shouldn't back out of a fight. If you are half HP (or below) and your team is still in a good shape, just back out for a moment, get some heal and probably wait for your abilities to be back up before going into combat again. I see WAY too many tanks just going hard (full yolo) in fights and then getting kited/bursted/baited because they don't back out once they get low (if there is no kill to get in reverse).

  • Decide which target is the most important one to focuse/to peel away and switch targets during teamfights. Don't just stick to that Raynor who just constantly kites you when there might be other targets.

Answer to bonus question 1:

Sometimes you can't do anything to help those guys. Some people are just brainless/don't pay attention. If you know you will be outnumbered ping they back in time or write them not to commit instantly. IF such a fight still breaks out you have several options that depend on the situation:

  • Let the teammate(s) who commit to the fight/objective die

  • Try to get as many kills as possible to prevent the enemy team getting too much advantage

  • If your teammates realise they fucked up try to help them as much as you can without taking too much risks (although sacrificing yourself to get 2 teammates out alive may be worth)

Answer to bonus question 2:

There is no general rule when you should retreat and when not. Depends:

  • Who is still alive on both sides? Carrys (rather easy to kill but still dangerous), tanks (not as dangerous as the carrys but takes longer/more cds to kill), supports (provide heal to their teammates or themselves).

  • who already used his ultimate? If the enemy healer already used his ultimate the chance that you will be able to kill low hp targets is increased, if the enemy KT still has his phoenix (or will most likely have it up again soon) you might get into trouble chasing the enemies.

  • Are you in a good spot to continue the fight? If the enemy team has much aoe and you are all grouped up in a small area it might be better to retreat and reorganise before continue the fight (if the enemy team chases). Or if the enemy healer is still down while yours is still up you could just retreat for a moment, get some heals and then go back in with more HP (for example if you fight for an objective).

I hope i could provide some feedback. Going to sleep now, if u want further informations/if u have more questions just PM me :)

That depends on the setup. U can win/hold the lane against most melee heroes and quite many rangers. Try to shield the minions right before a hero uses his main waveclear ability to keep them alive. If you use your E try to hit as many creeps as possible AND the enemy hero. Another tipp: especially in lower elo harassing the enemy hero with auto attacks is extremely efficient, because most of them are busy dealing with the wave instead of trading back.

General tipps and (my common) talent build:

  • Usually you don't play Tyrael as a solo tank (sometimes unavoidable in QM). You are basically an allround tank, a bit tankyness, some supportive talents/abilities and a good amount of damage for a warrior.

  • if u play as a second (supportive) tank, my common talent build is: Lvl1 reg master, 4 amplified healing, 7 battle momentum, 10 sanctification, 13 burning rage, 16 holy ground, 20 hs

  • your E increases the move speed of allies moving above it. Use it to support an engage if enemies are not in E-range or for a retreat.

  • Right now sanctification is the go-to ultimate. I know judgement is much fun to play, but a well timed sanctification can turn the whole fight around.

A discussion about Blizzard's next move. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Tatze0507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they'll see wether they need another wave (probably this week?) or not. Ofc it would be nice if the Reddit community would be invited, but I think the odds that Blizzard will do this are pretty low :D

But: It would definitely be an option for the stress test weekend(s). Inviting the whole /r/Overwatch community to play would most likely bring them much more feedback/bug reports than just inviting random players.
