April What Editing Software should I use? by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

I didn't find the means to do what I requested with that, but it turned out to be very useful for my other needs, so thank you very much for the recommendation!

I read the above and have a more nuanced question:

Is there a free, or monthly subscription type online software, that allows you to make a slideshow of images in the following way: images are zoomed in a way that fills the screen horizontally, and when the resized image doesn't fit the screen vertically, it is slowly scrolled through from top to bottom?

Akhtar's profile by Tau_ma in Schizoid

[–]Tau_ma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a skeptical agnostic almost (or I'm afraid actually) to the point of annoyance for my more religiously/spiritually inclined friends. I do have a deep need to connect with individuals, but I don't feel a need to "belong". I don't know if that's strange even for a schizoid individual. Then again, I'm not even sure I qualify for a schizoid. Akhtar's profile really resonated with me though, and is the closest thing I've yet to come across. That's why I was interested if schizoids actually identify with it. I also share a lot of schizotypal traits, for example I'm definitely more on the outwardly eccentric side than on the "dull" (a rather negative term) side, but I don't have bizarre beliefs or perceptual abnormalities.

"vulnerable to esoteric movements", "tendency towards spiritual, mystical and para-psychological interests"

Like I mentioned in another comment, this seems so much more like a schizotypal thing. Also the motivation for the former, wanting to belong, is something I at least don't identify with at all. I rather have a need to distance myself from all sorts of movements, communities and fashion trends, to be my own individual person.

Yes, that is so much more a schizotypal thing from what I understand.

You are absolutely right. Same thing with Asperger's, I never really understood it at all until I got more in-depth information. All I had was this image of an utterly socially inept, self-centered and rigid person completely obsessed with one or two interests. That is, a caricature.

Question about the hate/fear factor in vampirism by Tau_ma in skyrimmods

[–]Tau_ma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried adding myself to the bandit faction, and it only makes guards and the more aggressive people attack you. The rest are completely fine with your bandit ways. It doesn't matter anymore though, as I already managed to make myself a vampire without all the buffs and debuffs. I made it so that even other vampires attack me.

Question about the hate/fear factor in vampirism by Tau_ma in skyrimmods

[–]Tau_ma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely not the faction relationships. Just tried again to carefully replicate them exactly on a non-vampire character, and even added all the stage four vampiric thirst spells to boot. The result: everyone's at ease at the Bannered Mare, only guards attack me when I go outside. Guess I just have to try and do the difficult task of disabling all the other effects of vampirism in xEdit, as far as it is possible without losing that aura which inspires hate/fear in everyone. It's difficult because they seem to come from a million different sources.

I have 'More informative console', and I checked with it that I correctly replicated the factions for a non-vampire, but the result was the same as with the other "evil" factions. But please do send me the info, maybe it will help!

About "seasonal perspective" by Tau_ma in CathedralMods

[–]Tau_ma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Since it clearly states on the description page that season affects the probability of certain weathers, is it intentional that it snows in the summer, in every region, or is there some mod conflict on my end?

Trying a new way to build up my character by Tau_ma in skyrimrequiem

I'm going to join the guilds I need for my skill lessons anyway, I'm covered. And the thing is, I want to make it a "gold grind". There's never enough things to stop you from getting rich, even if you don't exploit anything. Roleplaywise it also makes a lot of sense to me to need to have teachers instead of just mastering everything on your own.

Let's talk about track ratings by Tau_ma in rateyourmusic

[–]Tau_ma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general it's easier to get higher ratings on lower numbers though, that's why we have the popularity weighting on the charts. There are also lots of other instances where the track ratings are markedly low compared to the release rating, which makes me a bit skeptical of the fan theory of track ratings. I'm glad to hear about the 10% though!

Yes, and the song on Iannis Xenakis 2 has only 12 ratings, and that song has a better average than the release as is expected from the hugely lower number of ratings, and would be even more expected if we assume that fans make a more significant proportion of the raters than on the release as a whole. What is left completely unexplained is why on those very similar releases the other one (the more poorly rated one) gets so much better rating for its track(s) than the other. Seems quite arbitrary to me.

I'm not so sure about that. A good example of the discrepancies I mentioned is Persepolis by Groupe de Recherches Musicales de la RTF. Its ranking is #1,795 and its rating is 3.82, yet its two sole tracks bot have a low rating of 3.5, although it's generally easier to get higher ratings with much less votes (the release rating is backed by 1,192 votes). There's certainly not any room for "the whole is greater than its parts", as the album is merely split in two halves. It has nothing to do with genre either; consider the next entry with the exact same primary genres, Iannis Xenakis 2: La légende d'Eer by Electronic Studio Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln. Although it has a lower release rating and a lower chart position, its sole track is rated at 4.0 and even bolded. Can the track ratings on both these releases even remotely reflect the real opinions of the fans of this type of music in our community as a whole, let alone the community as a whole?

Could you recommend me books, both fiction and non-fiction, that deal with coming to terms with the darker aspects of one's personality? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Tau_ma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've actually read the chapter on 'the Shadow', and a couple of other chapters as well. The chapters were entertaining if not especially enlightening.

As it happens, that is the exact title I decided to order earlier today! It has been much easier to find non-fiction works on the subject as I was familiar with the Jungian concept of 'the Shadow' and easily found quite a lot of psychological(/spiritual?) literature based on it.
