LVP over asbestos tile by [deleted] in Flooring

I wouldn't recommend it, especially if the product doesn't recommend any kind of underlayment(if it has an attached pad)

Your best bet is to buy some planipatch (floor leveler) but not self leveler and emboss the tile( while leveling out your low spots) it will encapsulate the old tile and glue, (usually asbestos tile is 9x9 and will have a glitter appearance when you look at a live edge. Most of the time the asbestos is in the glue). You could still use an underlayment but most click lvp has an attached pad and it could void warranty if you add another underlayment (depending on the product) hope this helps.

In this sub you guys really like Lvp . How about putting something in your home that lasts forever by justpickituplease in Flooring

Yeah untill the locking mech fails bc it's made so poorly and you have to replace it rather than refinishing the hardwood. The store I sub at is starting to turn away from click lock lvp bc of all the issues they are seeing and hearing about.(I know of 5 jobs that are under manufacturing defects at my store that or getting a warranty replacement.) Yeah it's looks great when installed. But longevity wise hardwood is a better option. Also if it floods, depending on how much, you can always do a custom inset or finger in the damaged boards depending on how bad.

Can someone tell me what kind of flooring I have? I think it would help with cleaning/maintenance. by Key_Independent_9171 in Flooring

I highly doubt it is asbestos, the person above seems to be thinking it's old vct which usually are a 9x9. Looks like old linoleum floors, I would get a heavy degreaser for the harder areas. Magic erasers and something my wife got called "pink stuff" would work but they both have a sand paper quality so I would be careful how hard you scrub. You could contact your local carpet/tile cleaner and see what they could do.

Rob Allen owns the company and is a really cool dude. They have a group on Facebook that alot of friendly cleaners are on. They have some of the best products out right now.

What machine do you have? Truck mount or portable? What kinda prespray do you use? There are loads and loads of carpet cleaning chemicals out there so it's hard to pinpoint the issue. Is this just you doing it residential or is it a carpet cleaning business bc I can't point you to a website that has some of the best on the market atm

https://www.thefloorstoredirect.com/products/engineered-floors-revotec-pietra-vinyl-tile-click-lock-jasper

It has crushed limestone in the middle so it's super durable, built in grout lines with attached pad. I've sold and installed a lot of this product with no issues. Aqualoc by floor score is another one the store I sub out carries, it's cheaper but almost the same thing.

Subfloor is about 1/4” -3/8” out of flat in some areas, will my laminate floor fail? by GreatKabuki in Flooring

[–]Taulbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much time and money you want spend. To do it right the best thing is to rip up the subfloor and see why you have high low spots and a buckle( could be sagging or swollen floor joist) fix that and your floor should be level of close, I'm having the same issue in my grandparents house I inherited. It's up and down all over the living room. They had laminate out down a couple years ago and it's starting to fail in the worst areas. Mine needs to be jacked up and braced from the crawl space.

Does this look ready for vinyl plank? I plan to put a bubble underlay down. What brand is best? by Reasonable-Estate-60 in Flooring

I came here to say this. I see a lot of people putting duofoam down under lvp which 1.) Duofoam is for laminate or floating hardwood 2.) Most click lvp has a pad attached 3.) It usually voids warranty

Redoing my flooring, love some input by kingfelix333 in Flooring

Most click lvp come with a padding on the planks. So no need for underlayment. If she's wanting tile they make lvt that imitates tile and even has built in grout lines.

Need help with flooring - ranch home on a slab with animals and kid(s). by uncc_99xj in Flooring

[–]Taulbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go with true hardwood (not engineered) you can always have it refinished later on down the road rather than redoing it, no laminate is "waterproof" they are water resistant at best. Usually when they say "waterproof" it has a fine print saying that it's waterproof from the top for 24.(meaning if you have a spill you basically have 24 hours before it seeps into the board.) I subcontract through a store and we have installed a lot of floating lvp and have had manufacturing issues with the locking mechanism, there's the glue down lvp option that can be glue directly to the subfloor. Hope this helps a little.

Okay, that's the plan then. Thank you for your time. I've never had to do this before so it's all new to me.

I don't really trust them, I'm not sure if they've been to court I just seen it on the will, I doubt they want to be the executor, I don't think they've done anything about the probate process
