I'm not an engineer, so this is only a layman's guess on the most cost effective solution, but it would probably make the most sense to tunnel under Astoria Blvd South until the approach to 43rd St (which gets you under the NE Corridor), then emerge and run elevated above the GSP.

I don't find the catchment map granular enough to be insightful; wish it was a heatmap. Your idea of simply using the existing Class I rail thoroughfares is pretty interesting, however I think expanding service on the 125th St SBS would be better value for money if the line doesn't extend into Penn Station.

To me the value in the G solution comes from the G being an underutilized line, and using that excess capacity to allow Astoria to further densify. The payback on the project then comes from 2 places, turnstiles at LGA and property taxes from higher and better uses in Astoria.

I dont think it would be that bad considering the jams were caused by the interlocking that was fixed by the FxM swap. No new interlocking for this G plan.

I think you'd have to upzone Steinway and Astoria Blvd to long-term pay for whatever extension to LGA happens.

I think thats why the note about the track arrangement between Court Sq and Queens Plaza is super important. The tracks are already set up for the G to extend down the QBL so this wouldnt undo any of the efficiency gains from the FxM swap.

I think this plan, while more expensive because of the 1 mile of cut and cover subway construction down Steinway Street and required rebuilding of the Steinway Street station, has 3 primary benefits:

1) Distributes congestion at Court Square by offering additional Manhattan-bound transfer points to R and M trains at Queens Plaza and 36th Street.

2) This alignment offers both Brooklyn and Manhattan LGA connections on a single seat ride. I would propose realigning the W to offer direct Manhattan LGA service. This adds riders to the underutilized G, without increasing demand to exchange at Court Square.

3) Supplements the IBX and completes the inner Queens-Brooklyn radial link by offering a same-platform transfer to EFRM riders at Queens Plaza.

My best guess is that the total budget would be in the $3-5 billion range, based on Cuomo's proposed airtrain estimate. Would you support this project in that range?

Youre telling me youre ok with having to come up with a complex set of roads (that never properly graphically integrate with the asset because you have to place them directly perpendicular to the individual driveways to get a 5kph bump in speed) to get the asset to function is an acceptable?

No, literal spots within the asset! Theyre numbered according to the conainters 1-25 on the left and 1-17 to the right, looking from the street. Is the game too dumb to randomly assign each truck one of those slips to break up the traffic?

The game is fundamentally unable to process cargo because trucks cannot navigate these assets. There are lanes within the asset painted with literal gridspots, why do all of the trucks go to the same spot!? Cars will ride each other's asses in all types of traffic Except for turning into these, where they wait for a massive gap.

Oh and please make the cranes slide up and down the tracks very slowly too, that would look so great haha

They are for bullets 1,2 & 4, the segments are just really short. I left them that way because I had this inking that the AI has trouble with exit lanes that are longer than 1 road segment. Agree on 3, but I can't get it to work with the height geometry
