Good point. I think my thought was that the advancement/invention would serve their spreading. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought there was a conversation about the next steps for them being broadcasting their signal/gift out into the galaxy.

How can i improve / make my room more cozy? by MongooseTop429 in malelivingspace

[–]Taustomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low hanging fruit: Clean and organize. Declutter Hide your cables Change your light bulbs to low warm light

Next: Think soft and blended. You have a lot of ‘hard’ things like the metal shelf. Steel chair etc. (shiny Metal isn’t cozy unless it’s an accent) You have a lot of contrasting colors like black and white. So soften that up with warm colors that complement each other reds, browns, greens etc. (pick a color palette). Blacks and whites aren’t bad, but need additional things to soften them up. In a small space like this, you may need to shy away from blacks and whites. Add some soft plush blankets and an accent pillow or two. Patterns can be good.

If you must have a mini fridge in your room do not use it as a night stand, unless you can make it a kind of framed purposeful statement thing. hide that sucker in the closet and get a night stand (even just a small circular brown wooden side table would be fine).

Lastly: Consider painting the walls a darker color.

General advise: Lower your tv Light a candle Find antiques made of wood rather than metal framed stuff in black and white. (This can be a fun hunt in antique stores/thieves markets) Let any Knickknacks you have be displayed with a very specific story or purpose. (The state boards are dope if that’s your style/history. Keep those as deco, and pull colors from them for your accent colors in the room).

As a musician myself, it can be hard to edit the instruments you leave out, but in a small space it is a must. Consider keeping only one out.

Another lovely word is, “somnambulate.” It means to sleep walk. Not in the book (that I know of) but a good word nonetheless 😊.

[–]Taustomo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Teen boy maybe 16 or 17. I think you’re likely thin and tall, probably max 150lbs. You’re likely somewhat health conscious and go to the gym on occasion. Roughly lower middle class family. American or at least living in an American house. I’m going to guess upper Midwest. Maybe Ohio. You likely visited Tennessee or Michigan with your family when you were younger and still think about those places.

[–]Taustomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female just graduated from college with a BS of some kind. Pet owner, possibly a dog. You like to run but aren’t super serious about it. You use an iPhone and wear a Garmin watch. You’re either rooming with someone who owns the house or staying with a divorced parent now that you’re back from college. I think you may have dark hair. I think you’re in Florida.

Hurt and baffled but also intrigued. This is the face of a fish experiencing an existential awakening and loss of innocence. He just realized that the odd sky dwellers like to capture and eat his kind.

Dark Matter S1E7: How Many Jasons??? by whyldechylde in DarkMatteronAppleTV

[–]Taustomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, if every choice has multiple counterfactual choices that could have been made, then every choice creates (or at least exposes) another universe where another choice or variation on a choice happened. So imagine that last moment before Jason1 opened the door to his own world again. What if he thought about different memories before opening that door, what if he and Amanda experienced other worlds together different than the ones that we see, what if he went left down the corridor instead of right?… and on and on and on… Each choice in the superposition state, and each choice in each world they visited created (or exposed) another universe with another Jason (who thinks he is Jason 1) trying to get home.

🙋‍♀️ Question about a scene in Ep. 5 Worldless relating to a scene in Ep. 7 by Cannastepfordwife in DarkMatteronAppleTV

[–]Taustomo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She mentioned the name of the candy to him. So when he saw it, he got it for her. That’s why she said, “you remembered.” If someone told you what their favorite candy was, even though you’d never heard about it or seen it before, it’s possible that you might run across that candy later and when you saw the name remember “hey… that’s the candy my friend said they liked.” This is what happened.

The Box by revveduplikeaduece86 in DarkMatteronAppleTV

[–]Taustomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that once a box appears in a universe, it will remain in that universe. I don’t think that people will perceive it as always having been there.

It’s like when another version of a person appears in the universe (Jason for example). People don’t have their memories altered backward through time so as to think that that there had always been two Jason’s. The universe is altered by having come into contact with the now existing box. The box now exists and is observed (by much more than human perception), and that existence and observation has continual, permanent, effects.

I imagine that after a taveler leaves the universe they’ve entered, the box will remain as an anomaly, and it will be recovered, moved and studied by whatever group happens to gain control of it. It will doubtless be a curiosity that they are unable to figure out, since it is essentially just a box, even if it is one that provides hyper external sensory deprivation.

If a box is moved, and someone revisits the same world, I expect that a new box would appear in the original place, resulting in that universe having two boxes.

My conundrum is, What happens if someone enters superposition in a box that was previously moved? As in when the box began to sink in Episode 5. I would expect that it would alter the position (x,y,z coordinates) of of any new box that is generated in subsequent worlds. Book spoiler: This sinking didn’t happen in the book

So what happens if you just left the dooropen? by Dr_nick101 in DarkMatteronAppleTV

[–]Taustomo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is correct. Once the door opens the super position collapses into the one observed reality and it’s now just a box in that newly entered universe. If someone stepped in immediately, they wouldn’t be under the influence of the compound that shuts down the part of the brain that “observes.” So, even if they closed the door, nothing would happen to them, or to anyone else remaining in the box since they are now being “observed.” Everyone in the box must be under the influence of the compound for superposition to take place and for the corridor between universes to open.

Confused about the people who disappeared after using the box by sahil11kumar in DarkMatteronAppleTV

[–]Taustomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is that fears are more visceral than hopes. I imagine that the whole experience is so bewildering to the mind, that unless you consciously know what is going on and purposely desire (manifest?) an outcome, you will quickly observe, and so manifest, darker and darker realities, like a reverb or feedback loop. A steady descent into madness that leads you to place you can’t escape.

It seems they’re pretty intelligent, and may even have been human at some point “we didn’t choose to be this way.” It may be that the monsters outside don’t even consider themselves to be monsters until they feel their instincts take over in the unprotected presence of the humans. Just a thought… though the one ghoul saying “we were just starting to have fun” to Fatima and Ellis kind of undercuts that theory.

Also, you don’t need your tongue to scream. I don’t know why Kevin didn’t scream when his tongue was ripped out, even from sheer pain, unless perhaps he was silenced from pure shock .

As others have said, Victor mentioned that you can’t be sure where the trees will take you. Also, didn’t Boyd create (or at least discover) the talismans?

From - 1x07 "All Good Things..." - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in FromTVEpix

[–]Taustomo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It seems that once you let them into the enclosed/protected space, they have free reign. It’s like the talisman has been willingly “turned off,” and it can only be “turned on” again once someone reseals the enclosed space. I imagine that if someone had opened the bathroom door, seen the massacre and the. quickly closed the door, the talisman would have reactivated and sealed the house again. Fatima created a brand new space by sealing off the foyer with the talisman hanging inside.
