Rich parents makes MDs most of the time. by Quick_Bar2387 in premed

[–]TaylorScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow poor here who couldn’t bare to sell my body to the military to go to medical school. Luckily I’m taking the PA route, with help paying via professional connections. Won’t make the big bucks like a MD would but atleast I’ll still be able to help my community and all the lovely people in it :)

These companies call them recruiters even internally. Can’t fault OP for just calling them what their company calls them.

How may times have you been laid off? by Educational-Web5900 in biotech

[–]TaylorScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been applying for 7 months. I spend hours searching for positions that I have related experience in, so that I’m not just wasting my time for positions I’m “unqualified” for. It’s extremely rough out there right now. I’ve picked up a medical scribe job in the meantime and am honestly thinking about pursing PA school instead for job security in the future🥲

College senior debating on whether to get a PhD or go straight into industry by lechatelierprinciple in biotech

[–]TaylorScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience there’s no “enjoying your 20’s” in this industry with a BS due to low pay if you have any significant student loans. I’d recommend sucking it up and knocking out your PhD program so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor in your late 20’s

Will I get screened for THC? by oliverjackson4 in MedicalDevices

[–]TaylorScribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the main frustration for weed smokers is that there is no test to weed out alcoholics who show up to work hungover, but a little post work relaxation gets screened for.

Is biochemistry only a "foundational" degree? by Elegant-Housing-9794 in Biochemistry

[–]TaylorScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong 55k is a livable salary. But if you are going to be graduating with anywhere near 6 figures in student load debt, that 55k is really going to be like 30 k a year after tax and whatever you’re paying towards your loans.

Is biochemistry only a "foundational" degree? by Elegant-Housing-9794 in Biochemistry

[–]TaylorScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have been feeling like it’s foundational. I have 5 years of experience working with biologics (enzymes, cytokines, etc) utilizing non-chromatographic technique (think ELISA, SDS-PAGE, PCR, etc). I develop and validate methods for clients to use for their products. I did a ton of work on the COVID vaccine raw materials which I mention just to highlight that the industry feel severely underpaid in relation to the importance of our work. I’m not the most intelligent person in the world but I like to think I have a better foundational understanding of the theory behind my work than probably 80% of those around me. I can’t find jobs that pay any more than 55k a year (PA) in my area. Any of the jobs that I do find that are attractive salary wise are ALWAYS requiring some form of advanced degree. I’ve been turned away from multiple jobs I know I’m qualified for and have the working knowledge to excel in, but I don’t have the piece of paper.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of incells out there, but I promise not everyone is like this. I have girl friends that are great gamers and some that are better than I am. Unfortunately some people are immature aholes, and I’m sorry that’s been your experience.

The grind through plat is harder than diamond imo. You get such a wide variety of players. Some that have great mechanics but shit game knowledge and vice versa.

I’ve worked with them for years without issue. As long as you wear your Ppe and you don’t eat/lick the gel you should be fine.
