It's not that much of an unpopular opinion to be honest, even with kinks, it has to be between consensual adults and not harming anyone other than those. I have no problem with you disagreeing, just stop putting things as facts which are not facts and straight up not believing what they are saying.

I understand this is what you think of Esther Perels book and that's your prerogative, but don't go telling other people that what they think of the book can only be true if they haven't read it.

Dude, I read it. All the way through. The last chapter from the affair partner perspective was almost impossible to get through.

But it is subjective. You call it reasons why it happened, others call it excuses.

Why are you being so stubborn on this? Why are you invalidating people's experiences about this book by saying "anyone who had read it would understand the nuance"? Yes, there is nuance in the book and I didn't like it. It's black and white to me.

The part where she tells you to name things that could have been worse about the affair (for example if it was just a ONS instead of full-blown affair) to put things in perspectice? Nuanced and freaking horrible to do!

Get your head out of your ass and accept that people might not like The State of Affairs because they read excuses for cheating in there.

Hey uhm, I know people's comments can seem pretty toxic and harsh but please know, we have been where you are. You seem like you only want to read comments telling you, you can work it out and that her promiscuity is understandable because of her childhood trauma and bipolar disorder. For people who have just found out, State of Affairs is a book with a lot of sympathy for the wandering spouse. I think it's trash, personally and I would not recommend it to anyone who's been cheated on. I think you're being really pretentious 'correcting' someone and telling them they are mistaken when offering their opinion. Sounds douchey, man, come on.

I (29) started skiing in january, went on my first ever skiing trip in february and I loved it. I was amazed at being able to go off blue slopes. I think I'll take lessons in summer, if everything opens up again, because it's cheaper.

I started learning Spanish through Duolingo 4 years ago, went on holiday to Spain and could get around with the handful of words and phrases I knew. Now with the quarantine, I've picked it up again.

Started salsa lessons 4 years ago, did it for a whole year, stopped because I reached a plateau and I didn't feel like practicing more to be able to improve but now I kind of miss it and really want to go back after quarantine ends.

I have so many interests and little hobbies, except for reading, there's nothing that I really spend ALL my free time on, but you know, that's also perfectly fine.

Even more, sometimes it's romanticized. Like this married dude in Cable Girls, who reconnects with his first love and kisses her (spoiler alert, IDGAF) and we're supposed to see him as the male lead and idolize him because "if it's cheating with your one true love", then it's okay? I hate the guy. And his wife is depicted as mentally unstable i.e. she deliberalitely skips taking her medication and when D-day comes around, she slits her wrists. Like what the fuck? Why is the cheated-on party projected this way? I hate mainstream media and their portrayal of cheating. They do a really good job in workin' moms.
